Give your opinions - Suggestion Box Friday

Friday has been Suggestion Box Friday for over a year now, and I think it’s time to change it to something else or add another ‘scheduled’ day to the JMTC week. The problem with leaving comments on this blog is that you have the forum and a slew of other multimedia sites which provide you, the reader, a plethora of ways to communicate with your fellow brethren. In fact, there is little reason to visit the site more than once a day other than to navigate to the other sections of JMTC for you more frequent readers. Another detriment to comments is spam, which forces me to moderate comments and I really don’t have much time in the day anymore to spend doing that so comments can go as long as 24 hours without getting moderated. This takes away from the discussion because there is no real way to have a conversation unless I moderate with some sort of scheduled frequency.

Ironically, I’m asking you to comment and give your ideas as to where I should go with the blog for Suggestion Box Friday as well as commenting itself.

Options for Comments:
Leave them the way they are.
Remove comments and add a shout box similar to what’s on www.castaclysm.com.
Remove comments and allow discussion to go on in the JMTC forums only.

Options for Suggestion Box Friday:
Keep it and leave it the way it is.
Remove and just make a normal post each Friday.
Rename to Community Spotlight Friday and just focus on highlighting other blogs/articles/sites.
Add a Community Spotlight Day.
Add a Twitter Day with a tweet that can be retweeted and passed around.

Why stop at comments and suggestion box Friday? Let’s talk about the monthly email… what do you want from that? Would you rather I sent little tips and things every week or so to the email list? Assume I get it working 100% and there are no issues with html coming out incorrectly for some people.

Suggestion Box Friday - Youtube Channels

Discussion
For today's suggestion box friday I'd like the fine JMTC community to throw into the comments section their favorite gold making (or wow in general) youtube channels. Great chance for self promotion guys and girls :)

"Hey Markco,

I noticed on your Call to Auction podcast (which I'm really enjoying) that you mentioned you were not sure where people were obtaining so much thorium from and whether they were using shady tactics to get it.

Well, I made a short youtube video showing just how ridiculously easy it is to obtain nowadays within Ungoro Crater (75 Thorium Ore in 13 minutes):

Keep up the great work as always and I look forward to your reply.

P.S I'm back on youtube :)"

Suggestion box Friday is your chance to be the blog writer, it's when I, the gold guru, defender of small kittens, last bastian of protection pvp, and all around good guy... markco, step down from my primordial, saronite plated throne and allow you, the adorable amateur a shot at making heads or tails of the world of warcraft auction house.

Discussion:

There are literally thousands of blogs out there which discuss making gold in world of warcraft. However, there is always room for improvement and there is always a blog idea which doesn't exist yet. What type of blog, focused on specific topics you care about, would you like to see that is currently not out there regarding gold in world of warcraft? Specific professions, classes, arenas, etc. feel free to list any topics you'd like to see combined into a new blog. Perhaps someone reading will see what you wrote and start one!

Haha I love that openning line, it never gets old.

Anyways, I would like today's comments to focus on podcasting and questions you might have for either one that I participate in, as well as ideas for future shows. The shows are Call to Auction and Castaclysm.

Otherwise, you may comment on anything if you'd like.

Also, I'm scrapping the Art of Gold Contest as no one seems to want to participate :(

Suggestion Box Friday - Your Success Story

Read this story about a satisfied player who found this website and then if you'd like post your own in the comments section!
"Yesterday morning I was just deciding that I needed a new way to augment my selective farming gold income.  So after my weekly Cranius fix on youtube, I spotted one of your awesome (albeit quiet) films about making gold in WoW. I was impressed by what i saw and followed the link to your site. After jotting down a couple notes and installing Auctioneer I drank some coffee until my server came back online. I decided to put your methods to the test in a 24hr test run.  My pally had just under 200 gold on him at the time and that felt like a good beginning amount.  what happened next far exceeded my expectations. In 5 hours of simply buying saronite ore at 40% market and selling the bars in pairs, I had doubled my money. Then I used that 400 gold to bid on nearly 300 Auctions all over the place from herbs to epic armor.  I then pried myself away from the screen in order to simulate a "normal" play cycle (though in my excited state I could have pulled an all nighter). Today I logged in to find about 30% of my bids had been a success and those auctions brought me up to the gold total you see here with about 600g pending in unsold merchandise.

Just under 24 hours after discovering your site and installing Auctioneer, I have turned 193g into 1,144g.  The attached screenshot shows exactly that via Auctioneer's bean Counter (the gold amount isn't displayed in my bags because i deposit my money straight into GB).  So in very rough summary, I picked up one Addon, watched one of your youtube videos, browsed your site during scheduled maintenance, and one day later I am making gold at an exponential rate.  Thank you very much! In case you wonder my personal favorite place to farm is Hellfire Ramparts: Three 20 slot bags full of junk along with an enchanting bag full of disenchanted  blues does not take long to acquire and the monetary return is the best I've found so far.  My toon's name is Aunigma on Fizzcrank-US so if any credit is due send it his way :-).

Thanks again!"

I believe that Aunigma had come across this video on selling items in world of warcraft.

Suggestion Box Friday - Castaclysm?

News Around JMTC

A whole new podcast is coming out very soon, it's called Castaclysm: A World of Warcraft Cataclysm Podcast, and I will be co-hosting it along with my gladiator 2's partner Thunderion and his brother Jhaman who are both excellent players in world of warcraft. We'll be able to discuss all topics regarding the events leading up to and following Cataclysm: Pvp, pve, and gold making! Bookmark the page and keep an eye out for the first episode which will be coming out hopefully some time next week.

The other podcast I'm currently a part of: Call to Auction had it's 6th episode recorded last night, so check my twitter feed for when that gets released as well. Have you checked out the previous episodes on making gold in world of warcraft? Definitely worth your while and of course the beauty of podcasting is that you can listen to it while you do what you would normally do in the game anyway.

Discussion

How long would it take you to make 1,000 gold on a new server with a level 1? What would you do to get starter cash and then to make that 1,000 gold? I am currently filming this for my gold guide and will be releasing it whenever I get to that 1k benchmark (hopefully sooner rather than later with how busy I am). I will of course be releasing the information I use to the blogging community in the form of my daily posts, but I will keep the videos for gold guide holders.

What will happen to frost lotus with the change coming next tuesday (possibly)? I plan on buying frost lotus for 70% or less of the current cost and resell for my prediction of 80% normal value that it will eventually settle at. I talked about this in call to auction episode 6 and am interested what this community thinks.

The Home Front

I've lost 55 pounds so far since I started losing weight 6 months ago. I went from struggling through a set of pushups to doing them one handed and from jogging a couple miles to running them full speed. Looking forward to keeping busy with two podcasts, the Wow Gold Guide, the Wow Gold Forums, the Wow Gold Digest (sign up slackers!), my newest book on Blogging to Make Money, and of course this amazing blogging community.

News

  • Episode 5 of the Call to Auction.
  • Wow Confidential had an excellent interview where at 7:00 minutes in he gave an awesome answer to the MMO-Champion article that we discussed on Call to Auction. I won't spoil what he said so head on over to the elitists podcast to find out.
  • Worked on the Wow Gold Guide and managed to convert my first video to flash! I plan to soon convert all the videos from wmv within the guide as well as add a video on how to go from 0 gold to 1000 gold on any server in a week (no dk requried).
  • Working on the next gold guide competition, I plan on making it a little more fun this time around.

Discussion Topics

What value do you place on your time, specifically in leveling alts for cataclysm? Gold guide holders know that you can make a lot of gold leveling a character, BUT will it make up for the time you invested instead of playing your main farming the auction house or mobs? Do you value the end result of having new professions and possibly cooldowns or dailies? Since cataclysm is coming soon, do you value getting all your characters to level 80 over making gold now even with the possibility of inflation?

Episodes 3 and 4 have arrived for the Call to Auction... will you answer the call? You may have noticed that I have been working very hard to create a place where all forms of media (youtube, xfire, blog, forums, twitter, email, etc.) are available to players trying to make gold in world of warcraft and have a fun place to communicate with their fellow auctioneers. My goal with this blog is not just to allow you to pick my brain and interact with me, but also with the thousands of fellow auctioneers who stop by here every single day. How am I doing, where can I improve, etc. Consider this week's suggestion box friday your chance to influence the places that I take this blog this year. Suggestion Box Friday - Guest Posts and Warcraft Pets

Today's suggestion box friday is a pretty special one. Anyone out there who has guest posts and wants to get more traffic sent to their site should take a look at the following submission by Chris from Brattgaming with regards to pets in world of warcraft. The post is thorough and I'm certain many of the readers of this blog will flock to see the rest of the great information contained within his site.

Guest Post by: Brattgaming

Hey there JMTC fans and as you may have noticed, this is indeed a guest post. I will try to keep in with the general theme of this blog and look at a great gold making idea in the World of Warcraft.

I’m going to focus on one of my favourite markets to play with via the Auction House and one of the most ‘collectable’ set of items that seem to have people spending ridiculous amounts of gold: WoW minipets. There are many different types of pets available and I will now split these into categories to explain how we can use some of them to create a great and relatively constant income.

Faction Specific

These pets can only be bought if you belong to the relevant faction, either Horde or Alliance. This is one of the most basic pet selling ideas and has been always been a great strategy. Simply buy the pets that only your faction can buy and then post them on the Neutral Auction House for a massive profit. Recently players have been given the opportunity to have both Horde and Alliance characters on both PvE and PvP realms and now you can take advantage of both sides of the market and double your potential sales.

Faction Specific pets are split into two categories at the moment. The vendor bought pets found near each of the capital cities can be bought for a measly 50 silver and yet sell for around 15-20 gold on most servers at a very constant rate. Level 80 characters involved in the Argent Tournament have the option to buy another 5 faction specific pets for Champion Seals and these are more difficult to obtain but can easily be sold for a few hundred gold. The Argent Tournament pets can sometimes take longer to sell and can often be worth advertising in the opposite faction’s Trade Chat (if you dare!)

Rare Drops

There are a large amount of minipets that are dropped from various mobs throughout the game and these are usually sought after by the die hard collectors with the largest bank balance. The pets with the lower drop rates are always the most expensive. Some of you may wish to farm for these pets yourself and could start with the various hatchling pets or whichever you feel puts your time to best use. However you are relying on luck for the most part and you really need to think how much your time is worth. My advice for selling rare pets is to try and get a really firm grasp on the market prices and what you think the pets should sell for on your server. From here you can use the Snatch function within Auctioneer to purchase any pets that are being sold for a lower price than you expect. To quote Markco: ‘Buy cheap and sell normal’. So work out what prices you expect the pets to sell for and set this as your ‘normal’ price. From there you can look at buying and selling and really start to get a feel for the market. As a final tip for rare pets, always try to sell them on your own faction’s Auction House. These pets sell for a rather large amount of gold and unfortunately the Neutral Auction House will be more than happy to take a nice slice out of your profit. In my opinion the Neutral Auction House should be used to sell faction specific items and little else.

Vendor Pets

Similar to the Faction Specific pets there are several other minipets that can be purchased from vendors throughout the World of Warcraft. These can often be sold on the Auction House for some easy profit. I am not suggesting that you try and scam people into thinking these pets are Rare Drops but instead think of it as charging them for your time spent collecting the pets from the various locations. Therefore I would usually sell these pets with a much smaller mark up price and avoid any dishonest behavior. My favourite minipet vendors to visit are extremely easy to find:

Breanni

This NPC can be found within the Pet Shop of Dalaran. She sells three different types of pets at a price of 50g each. These can be bought and placed upon the Auction House for some easy profit. Please note that these prices are changed by your Kirin Tor Rep and you can get them for slightly lower prices.

Extra Note: Breanni is named and modeled after the creator of WarcraftPets.com, which is a website that can provide all sorts of valuable information for the collecting and selling of WoW minipets.

Dealer Rashaad

This NPC is located at the Stormspire in Netherstorm. He sells eight different pets: four of these can be found at other locations and importantly four of them are completely unique to this vendor. The Blue Dragonhawk Hatchling, Brown Rabbit Cage, Mana Wyrmling and Red Moth Egg pets are only available from Dealer Rashaad. They range from 10 gold to 40 gold and can once again be bought and then placed upon the Auction House for some quick gold. Please note that once again this vendor is subject to faction reputation and if you have reputation with The Consortium then you will notice lower pricing.

Extra Note: Dealer Rashaad sells the Cat Carrier (Siamese) pet which can only be obtained elsewhere by killing the Cookie boss within the Deadmines. He has a 13% droprate for this pet and therefore buying it from Dealer Rashaad can save you a lot of trouble.

Engineering pets

For those who say Engineering isn’t a profitable profession, they really need to take a look at some of the minipets engineers can craft. Although some of these pets are used only by Engineers there are three pets than I can think of that can be sold and used by non-engineers. These pets vary in rarity and the usual prices they sell for reflect this. However they are essential for any pet collection and people will be willing to part with their precious gold for these vanity items.

The Tranquil Mechanical Yeti is the first of these pets and can be picked up via the ‘Are we there, Yeti?’ quest-line in Winterspring. Once crafted it can easily be sold for around 100- 200g depending on your server. The other two pets that can be sold are the Mechanical Squirrel and the Lifelike Mechanical Toad. Both of these are learnt from recipes that are considered rare drops, found in Azeroth. The Mechanical Squirrel is much easier to obtain and the recipe drops from a whole variety of level 10-25 mobs throughout the game. This is not usually a rare sight on the Auction House. For this reason you cannot sell it for a very high price, you will aim to sell a large amount of these pets for a smaller amount of profit. However the Lifelike Mechanical Toad is a complete opposite. It is a much more difficult recipe to obtain and when you have it you can craft and then sell it for a larger amount. I would not be surprised to see these selling often for over a 100 gold and are always snatched up by collectors that recognize a rare pet.

There are plenty of other pets that can be collected or sold throughout the World of Warcraft and I hope this post has emphasized how large and profitable this market can be. I will apologize if this writing style is not great, as I have only just started blogging and this entire process is still very new to me. Thank you very much for reading and feel free to check my own blog out if you have the time.

Thanks to Markco for allowing me to steal his blog for a day!

Suggestion Box Friday - Making Gold with Blacksmithing

Suggestion box friday is your chance to be the blogwriter! It's when I, the gold making guru (you know the one with the smoking hot body and huge ego?) allows you, the adorable rank amateur, to ascend my frozen saronite throne and attempt to make heads or tails out of the auction house.

Discussion:

For the suggestions, let's see how you would make money with blacksmithing while leveling it. Try to be crafty here (pun intended) and list particular items that you made while leveling up to make some gold. Perhaps recommend certain items to be made even when they turn green because they are worth the money to help cover profession leveling expenses.

Community Spotlight:

Bobreaze recently leveled blacksmithing and used enchanting to make some gold.

Check out this article which helps explain my questions regarding engineering pets during winter veil. Christmas Noobs by Cold.

This reminds me of when dream shards sold on my server for 80g and I used my blacksmith to craft the level 77ish mace and I would get a gaurenteed dream shard out of the 15 saronite bars and 2 crystilized fire (can't remember the exact mats, but it was something very close to this). Total cost of mats was about 40g.

Regarding Engineering pets during the Feast of Winter Veil

Another influence on these pets is the influx of Christmas Noobs. As getting ten pets is an easy start at the achievement system, and most people opened a gift that got the started on their way to collecting pets. It has trigged people to look for more.

Best Help ....EVER!!!!

Regarding my personal and blog info:
- Weight loss: Down 38 pounds and feeling pretty damn good. In the best shape of my life.
- Forums and Blog saw record numbers this week for readership and hits. Been working hard to get more google hits on both and it has paid off. Play around and try to find the blog with google search terms, it's fun!
- Gold Guide went back to full price and I added a new chapter, be sure to check it out if you are a gold guide holder. I tested the new chapter to see how much it improved my sales last weekend and came out pretty happy... 15k gold spent in purchases, 36k gold in sales.

I did this before. I usually just skipped to the Sanguine Hibiscus. It sells really well. You can skip most of the mobs at level 80.

Regarding Mail Enhancements:
Sunkist said...

To the person unable to use addons while alt+tabbed: I've also had this problem since 3.3. But to solve this all I've had to do is play in windowed mode and then simply minimize the game and the addons continue to run. Hope that helps for you too

Regarding Unethical Business Practices:
Baileykitty said...

I've hit gold cap without treating my customers like redheaded step-children. I can confidently say I don't purchase bot farmed items because I either farm it myself or simply don't use the item.

The items I do buy from people I have cultivated more than just a click trade enter xxxx amount of gold get goods relationship. I have actually made more of an effort to get to know my sellers personally. I know how they get their goods, when they will be able to sell, etc. I treat my customers (on and off ah) like king and in return I have started to procure a very loyal customer base. (who wouldn't want to see a 15k C.O.D of goods that you can manipulate into making almost double that)

I guess simple real life business practices are above and beyond those who are not willing to put in the effort. I guess it is a matter of whatever floats your boat, biting the hand that feeds you or treating them with kindness.

Personal Stuff:

I like to share with you my successes in life not to brag or put others down, but to give you some encouragement for your own goals and dreams in life. As Patrick once said: "you'd make an excellent motivational life coach." Regarding weight loss, I'm down 33 pounds. The slowdown in weight loss was mostly due to illness and holiday eating, but now that I can get back to a consistent workout schedule I expect to lose another 10 this month. I'm below what I was in college, when I considered myself a pretty good athlete and played sports consistently. Thank you Jelsa, my family, and the blog readers here for their support. For those that are also trying to lose weight, for whatever reason, one of the secrets I've figured out is picking foods which you truly enjoy but won't hurt you if you cheat and eat too much. By keeping these always available I've never harmed myself by overeating once in a while. For me these include nuts, veggies, fruit, popcorn and cold cuts. Also, if you keep a steady metabolism by working out you will be able to survive the occasional Christmas cookie.

Gold Contest Discussion:

If I were to run another gold making contest, what would you like the format to be in? What creative caveats would you set in place if you were running it? I'd like to do another contest but I'm looking for some interesting spin on making gold for it. Any creative rewards that you'd like given out? I'm thinking of giving away a premium membership to the forums as well as a copy of the gold guide for starters, but I'd like some other incentive for those that are already owners of both. All ideas are appreciated.

Regarding Why Bank Space Doesn't Matter

Zamboni said...

All of my working materials are stored in mailboxes. The guild bank is for speculation materials or consumables where I actually need to see what I have. The 2300 stacks of Saronite Ore never needs to come out of the mail.It is important to mail everything at least once. Don't let fresh auction purchases pile up as they will be deleted in 30 days. If everything is mailed to an alt, it comes back after 30 days and then can sit in the mailbox for another 30 days. Everyone else can have items piled up in the mailbox, but the main AH banker - the distribution center - should have an empty mailbox as much as possible.Another spot for piling up a lot of materials for long-term storage is a mule, an alt with a full set of netherweave bags just for holding 216 stacks of assorted junk. Three of these equals a fully-tabbed guild bank. Leveling these up to level 10 will make them restorable if your account is hacked.

Regarding Famous How I Wow Podcast

This was the show that got me started making serious gold in WoW. I really miss How I WoW. After they went off the air (so to speak), I stopped listening to all WoW podcasts. Just didn't have the heart to listen anymore, since there show was perfect (for me, anyway).

Regarding How I Make Easy Wow Gold

Jerry said...

I've started doing this process that you are talking about since a month ago, and have been making a lot of gold with it. I started with about 2k gold and I'm up to 12k gold on my bank alt now.I love being able to check the AH 3 times a day and just pick up bargains which I can sell for sometimes 10x that amount of gold on another day.For people that want to do this, take a look at the addon Market Watcher (made it real easy for me).

Discussion:

WOOOAHHH is my wool cloth flying off the horde auction house shelves! Currently selling at 35 gold per stack and I purchased for as little as one gold on the alliance auction house. I get undercut once in a while but those people get bought out within 20-40 minutes each time. Have you been successful selling eggs, milk, and wool cloth this holiday season? I didn't touch eggs or milk myself but my favorite resto druid sold tons of eggs and milk for .75-2 gold each. Since Dec 1st I've probably sold around 3,000 wool cloth and I've been kicking myself that I didn't do this last year lol.

Here's a brain teaser for you: Is it worth it to buy a few stacks of gingerbread cookie recipes for those new characters/alts who need it later in the year?

Suggestion Box Friday (12/11/09)

This friday I'm not here because I'm currently flying out to see my favorite resto druid. Feel free to turn the comments section into your own personal soap box for discussing your favorite ways to make gold in the game but with a twist:

What are your favorite ways to make gold pre level 50? Comment!

While on the trip I have posts pre-made for the blog but will be unavailable for emails/comments/questions/etc until I return on the night of the 14th.

I will check periodically to moderate comments whenever I have a free moment, but that's all I'll have time for.

Suggestion Box Friday (11/17/09)

Happy day after turkey day! I hope you are having a blast with family/friends.

Feel free to write about anything regarding making gold in wow!

Discussion:

Will new glyphs that require snowfall inks in the next patch drive the price of snowfall inks back up to what they were a few months ago? Will the item level 200 trinkets (aka greatness) still hold enough market value to keep people buying snowfalls? Something to think about as many people have stopped producing the cards all together.

Suggestion Box Friday (11/20/09)

Suggestion Box Friday is when I, the gold making guru, step down from my saronite plated frozen thrown (what else are you supposed to do with all that extra saronite anyay?) and allow you, the loveable auction house amateurs take a stab at making heads or tails of wow economics.

Feel free to discuss anything gold related, here are the comments of the week:

Regarding Titanium Bars vs Saronite Bars after Patch 3.3
Mus1k said...
I concur with Euripides mostly. I'd stack couple of tabs of saronite ore just in case, but won't be hasty to convert it to bars even, so that i can prospect em, if titanium hits the ground.
More interesting question is: how will the tit.bar price affect the ore price. One would think that the ore price must fall accordingly, but i feel it will not be the case for a while after the patch hits.

Discussion: Patch 3.3 2 weeks... 4 weeks.. 2 months away? What are your thoughts? I'm betting on 3-5 weeks with the arena season ending about 2 weeks after.

Suggestion Box Friday (11/13/09)

This is your day to be heard. You can talk about anything related to world of warcraft, so go nuts :) !

Gold Guide Announcement

I have been making some serious changes to my gold guide, including dropping the price down to $27.00 for the holidays and adding a super secret gold making tip so powerful that it has made me 600% of my investment every day that I've tested it. Several minor updates were made for patch notes and changes to certain strategies as well.

Regarding How to Deal with Undercutters
Anonymous

I use to make gold with the 100+hp twink enchant, the mats are 2 X Small Brilliant Shard and the price per shard is about 1-2g/each on my server, still I manage to sell the enchant for ~70g, and I sell several each week. By simply buying out all of the shards, so I deny all my competition. I totally agree with Daxenos that buying out all the netherweave cloth would be the greatest strategy, if the mats are gone the competition will be gone soon tooGood luck

I agree with you honors, but you have to think about the numbers. Even if tanks (I know I am) are twice as likely to flask as dpsers, there is a minimum of 2.5 dps per tank (using a 2tank 3healer 5dps setup) the ratio gets worse as you look at 25man raids (I've never seen more than 4 tanks in a 25man, but even if you had 5 and 5 healers you still have 3 dps per tank). Thus, while I wouldn't overlook stone blood, dps flasks will sell better.

Regarding Auction House Tycoon Gold Strategies

I agree with you views on the auction house. While I myself don't feel that I have reached tycoon status, it is the next logical step to breaking into triple figures. I pay close attention to some of the big tymers on forums, but still feel it takes much longer for me to learn a new market. I am more the type that tries to hammer a square peg into a round hole until it finally dawns on me to try a different approach.Hopefully, they will open up the mail system for player characters on both factions. Right now it is a major pain to get good across factions, plus the fees are a killer.

Will saronite bars rise in value with the removal of the titanium cooldown? Will titanium bar prices fall as the saronite bar prices rise? Is it worthwhile to start buying saronite bars at the current price and then sell titanium one week after the patch lower than everyone else?

Suggestion Box Friday (11/6/09)

Suggestion box friday is your chance to be the blog author. It's when I, the money making guru of glorious gold stacking glory descends from my frozen, saronite plated throne for a short time in order to provide you, the loveable rank amateur, a chance to try your luck at making heads or tails out of the living beast we call the auction house.

In short: You can basically write about anything you want, and I sort of take the day off to go get smashed on kungaloosh.

Doomwalker can also be two manned (even soloed according to wowhead comments) and drops even more gold as well as level 70 BoE epics (which, granted, doesn't sell for all that much anymore)

Agreed. The holiday market is, at times, amazing. I sold much more ice cold milk and simple flour than I thought I would in the past 2 days. But the reason why is so obvious that it is easy to miss: no vendors in dalaran sell these items. Or they sell just one, I can't remember which now. Being a mage, I can port willynilly to get what I want (hint: exodar) and be back again quickly. Except when the bug for the bread of dead existed and it all went poof* when you ported.

In any case, don't underestimate the power of small items. And since these are such cheap investments, you can undercut way down to the quick. Also - if you end up with excess supply, keep it until the next holiday. Odds are that there is some item that will use them.

How will the new snowfall ink based glyphs affect the wow economy? It appears that blizzard is working on creating several new glyphs that require snowfall ink as a reagent. What's your thoughts on this?

Pygmy oils can also be used to make Guru Elixir, a decent buff for anyone - +20 to all stats, as I recall. I haven't found it to be a good seller, though, on my server anyway.

Given the high vendor value of pygmy oil (1.5g/stack), I haven't considered the risk/reward ratio reasonable enough to AH them. (My server is medium pop at best, too.) I've done a bit of advertising in trade channel for it, and sold some that way, and found some regular buyers to COD to.

So thanks, Marco, for mentioning pygmy oil earlier. Instead of vendoring the supply I get off my fishing expeditions, I decided to recheck the market and got some extra from it.

Regarding 10 Tips to Leveling Professions

This is such a great example of why this blog works so well for both the hardcore and the casual gold-making player in WoW. Never underestimate the value of stating what appears to be obvious. I doubt any of the hardcore players reading this don't do each of these steps to some extent, but having them written out provides a focus that can improve the process. What seems like a post targeted at the casual player still provides value to those dedicated players that typically scoff at the "casual" tips on other sites (i.e. Wow.com)

Regarding Stop asking how much gold you can make per hour!

Bill said...
Measuring gold/hour is like measuring weight loss. Or DPS. Its valuable to understand your gold/hour, as long as you calculate it appropriately. Don't "step on the scale" at the wrong interval.

All these measurements can assist you in getting better in your given task. You just need to understand what they mean. And over what period.

Weight Loss

Down to ~238 pounds, which is just 2 pounds shy of my 20 pounds in one month goal with just a week left before I fly out to see my girlfriend. I think I'll make it easily :)

Mmo-Chumpion Strikes Again Best Thorium
Wiggin said...
Good job Markco for pointing out that these tips (more like direct instructions) leave areas for us real auctioneers to make massive gold.

I was upset when I first saw the post on MMO-champion because prospecting thorium has been my most consistent source of income for months!

So far on my server things are going well for me. Thorium ore usually sells for 30-40g a stack (lower than most servers) I however only bought when it dipped below 20 when farmers dropped their supply. The last 6 hours I've sold probably a dozen stacks for 60-70g per.

On the bright side, gems haven't been flooded (yet)! Still selling Opals/Emeralds for 15, Diamonds for 12.5, star ruby's for 10 and blue sapphires for 5.

Thankfully I have both a large supply of gems and thorium, so I don't even have to farm, I just have to watch and see :)

This just shows that you are reaching a wider base of readers. Just a small percentage of your readers are idiots. The more idiot comments you get, just indicate the larger number of readers you now have.

Feel free to just delete those comments.

Back to the topic, I know my competition reads my blog. I will offset things I do or try by a few days or even weeks. I write the post in the moment but queue it out several days.

Like this last week, we had an herb shortage. I was weak in the market while I got things in order. I am back in the market at full force now because of an ink farmer I picked up last tuesday. My post that talks about my first buy from him will show up in the morning.

With that said, I am not manipulating my markets like those guys sugest with the blog. But I am keeping myself 1 step ahead of my competition.

Weight Loss

Finally another 2 pounds lost today after almost 7 days not losing a pound. Looking forward to the next week :D

I'm down 15 pounds in two weeks, not too shabby! I want to thank all the people kind enough to send me emails and offer advice. Still hoping for 20 pounds in one month... oh and for those who guessed it, I am doing this for someone very special to me.
