Passloot: AutoLooter for the Lazy Goblin
I’m a huge fan of anything that allows you to make gold without thinking. A huge incentive for a lot of the design behind TradeSkillMaster centers on this goal – from the glyph creation process to the automated craft material buying functions. With all the experience bonuses that come from guild perks and heirlooms these days it’s not rare for players to level at least a good chunk of their time in dungeons. Have you ever accidentally clicked need on an item when you meant to need on it? Some groups run so fast that it becomes difficult to keep up while still watching the loot window. To eliminate this you’re going to want to grab Passloot. Passloot is not for extremely hardcore auction goblins but if you’re someone who wants to make as much gold as you can without thinking and you do a lot of instances this addon that saves you a lot of time and effort discriminating between you drops. The Good
Passloot is an addon that allows you to create rules for automatic rolling for everything you do. Want to ignore all greens because you’re running instances too quick to empty out your bags? Done. Want to disenchant them instead like a good auction goblin? It’s just a click away. Specific items can be identified by name if you want to make damn sure you get them and anything you don’t create rules for will go through to your loot window so you can see them and make an active decision on the roll.Since Passloot was really made for gear I’d highly recommend you grab both the Pawn and Atlasloot plugins to help the addon make decisions based on gear you want and gear that is an upgrade compared to what you have on. Make sure you put any recipes that are important on the *top* of the list so they get rolled on way before every other filter on the list.
The Bad
Passloot is great for what it was designed for but it falls short if you try to use it for auctioning purposes:- I’d really like to have some auction price awareness built into the system. As I certainly don’t sell every single thing that drops from a run (although I probably should), the ability to ignore BoEs under a certain price with a very high seen count would possibly save a lot of space and time to post.
- I’d like to see the ability to discern between items that sell well whole versus their disenchanted prices so the addon can chose between having a drop disenchanted or greeded.
- To analyze gear appropriately one must have some way to determine raw item stats. I’ve found no way so far to check, simply, if an item has “Agility and stamina” built in. This would allow specific types of gear, ie high selling rogue gear to be differentiated from “stamina / spirit” gear.
- Passloot could also use an easy-off switch. Occasionally something is broken in the filters and I need to adjust them before allowing the addon to roll on my drops. I can get into the options and turn off the addon entirely but it takes a few clicks (while the party is still running and rolling on items) to stop the chaos. After it’s turned off the addon should stay off even between reloads.

Passloot is a really nice addon, and I dont want to muss this: Its very nice, to always disenchant green shit.
But I think, it isnt really a moneymaking-tip, so, this is a (quite good) offtopic-tip.

This post was reasonably well-written, and I do think there’s something of a sub-niche out there for addons on the current gold blogs and sites. I know there’s one blog that focuses almost exclusively on addons, although the name escapes me – it’s a regular poster on the Consortium anyway if anyone’s looking.
Content-wise, this doesn’t really seem to be a gold tip. The addon in its current state isn’t what I’d deem essential for goblins. The addon combined with the features mentioned by the author would be, but it just reads like a change request log to the addon author to me, or an appeal for assistance from those who can write plugins. Recount, for example, is an addon that is of little importance to goblins, but could be radically overhauled to include random gold-making functionality, like combining auditor features and data outputs. While that may not be the best example, it illustrates my point – a post on what an addon may be capable of wouldn’t qualify as a gold tip. As with the recount/auditor example, PassLoot can be combined with Atlasloot, Auctioneer, TSM or whatever to satisfy a few of the author’s requirements, even if it isn’t fully automated.
I hate to be picky but maybe a +1 for hiring an editor was “Have you ever accidentally clicked need on an item when you meant to need on it?” It’s an easy mistake to make, but that’s what editors are for.
@ Markco or Mageshadow, would it be possible to adjust the blog settings or CSS so that every post is in the same font? The standard font that virtually every Markco/Mage post uses is perfect both for aesthetics and readability, while this one that occasionally crops up is harsh by comparison.
Overall, I’d like to read more from this author, but on some more relevant hidden addon gems if possible.

agree with anon 2, times new roman fonts are so ugly and make articles uninviting to read. The standard font you use on everything else would be lovely :)

Just to say that autodisenchant don't proc the guild perk for more mats. A good gobelin will always greed BoE green/blue/epic and sending them to his enchanter alt (or ah alt if low ilevel boe still sell on your server).
