Taking JMTC In A New Direction
For the past 3 years, JMTC has been one of the leading sites on the art of making gold in the World of Warcraft.This is a testament to our dedicated and skilled team of writers and, of course, the outstanding support from the beloved community.
In order to keep up with the rapidly changing demands and needs of our community-based site, we understand that we can't rest on our laurels and that in order to maintain your trust, we need to evolve.
Therefore, I am pleased to announce that JMTC will be heading in a fresh new direction this month.Our focus will be on trimming the fat and turning our attention to the one thing that truly matters - the delivery of top-notch content that is current, relevant and of the highest quality.
We reached this decision through extensive deliberations over the past month with Markco, our team of writers and other members of the community and most people we spoke to agree that this is the next logical step for JMTC - and we all look forward to our next steps together in taking this site to even greater heights.
To that end, the first thing we started working on was eliminating the unnecessary advertisements that were compromising site readability and viewer experience.
Long-time supporters might notice that a significant chunk of clutter has been removed and the end result is a cleaner, more focused layout with a laser-sharp focus on the articles. Banners ads have also been taken out in the meantime as the site undergoes a major redesign.
We will continue to offer free daily gold tops written by our dedicated and talented team of writers, so be sure to look forward to that. I will be working closely with them to ensure that only articles of the highest quality are posted and circulated. If you haven't signed up already, now will be the best time to do so.
Also be sure to check in on the coming weeks to see the various changes we are in the midst of implementing, in particular the installation of a spam filter to weed out the fluff and filler. Right now there are a handful of Good Samaritan moderators who are clearing it up everyday - their contributions have not gone unnoticed and are greatly appreciated.
We hope you like the current changes to the JMTC and we are working hard to make sure JMTC continues to serve the best interests of our community.
Come join us in our journey in taking JMTC to a whole new era and if you have any feedback or questions about anything, feel free to leave a comment below!

About time.
The ads you decide to put up will actually have a much higher impact when you're not trying to schil every opportunity.
Good move JMTC. I'm planning to come back to WoW before 4.3, so you and I are going to be seeing a lot more of each other.

@Matt
welcome back matt. 4.3 is going to be very interesting and challenging for gold making. The basics get turned over with non raiding Jewelcrafting not getting the boon of epic gems.
The introduction of added materials (essence of destruction) and with the race to Deathwing there will be a ton of opportunities to amass a huge function.

Good Samaritan?
Didn't Markco warn you about my weekly stipend of raw meat and a hefty courtesean allowance?
It's good to see someone has resumed the helm. We were starting to wonder if anyone was going to sit in the driver's seat or just sell the membership into spam-slavery.
Good luck with the relaunch.
If you need me I'll be over in the forums weeding out more Russian porn.

AHAHAHAHA Whitewolf
+1 for weeding out Russian Porn

Important Clarification: The ~allowance~ for courteseans was hefty...not the courteseans themselves.

MARKCO, put the blog roll back and you'll be back in business!

who did you sell your site to marcko?

@The Siz: Markco sold his site for 50,000 dollars. He no longer owns JMTC.

I think I'm glad to see this happening. We'll see. The flurry of spam emails I received with Markco's name on them recently, combined with the long-term, unaddressed decline of this site, with its associated poor front-page quality and lack of forum activity, have put me in the category of a former supporter who's not at all convinced things can turn around.
I am mostly hanging out at the Consortium these days, but if JMTC manages to get back on its feet again I'll be pleased to see it.
In the meantime I am planning to avoid like the plague any of the upcoming Diablo III gold-making sites (and am advising friends to do the same) as my trust in any of the 'big name' gold bloggers is at approximately zero. Good gold-making forums interest me, but they are a very rare beast these days.

JMTC owns Consortium anyday. Can't wait to see the changes proposed. It's about time!

Sounds like positive news. I too was FED UP with spam emails and adverts increasing in the last few months. Makes sense now though if Markco was trying to up the revenue in order to support a sale. Makes sense for him, but I think it really damaged the credibility of the site. Roll on getting back to a good community here.

@Caitlyn: What would you like to see as far as front-page content to bring it back to it's old standards? What kinds of posts would be most helpful? Are there certain topics we should spend some time on? Would love to hear your (or anyone else's!) thoughts on the subject. I'm excited to get back to the community feel of JMTC that I too first fell in love with way back when.

@Aleithia
It's much easier than you think. Take the time to read the comments on this very website and you'll have your answers. Start about 2 years ago. It's all in there. Best feedback ever.

I don't think I have ever seen a site as plain as this one does currently. If you are going to do without most of the ads, might I suggest going towards 2 columns, rather then the 3, with an empty placeholder?
RE: Russian Porn... why do you think I frequented the forums so much? Now I need to go find somewhere else I can find the "good stuff" for a couple coppers.

@Spitt
Thanks for your feedback. We are currently brainstorming on how the final design of the site should look like.
Without all the ads, yeah 2 columns sound like a good idea. We'll do a mock up and see how it looks.
