"The tipping point is the critical point in an evolving situation that leads to a new and irreversible development." from whatis.techtarget.com
When dealing with the economy of Warcraft, an important aspect is to pay attention to when your server economy has reached it's sales plateau. Where on occasion this occurs just before a major change in a patch. With the introduction of Mists of Pandaria, the tipping point is on it's way and should be shuffling your economy in the next few weeks.
What I'm talking about is where the crafting of items or the prospecting of ore (via the elementium shuffle) no longer continues to be profitable. Ore becomes at a higher price than the items can be produced. Selling of raw materials such as Leather and metals no longer become profitable to purchase and craft into armor. The sales dwindle do to either the majority that can afford the item already have it. Or it becomes useless when the next set of available quest armor dwarfs the numbers from the crafted item.
The key in the next 3-4 weeks (up to the point of the Mists of Pandaria expansion event) is to watch for that point and not fall along the other side. Falling on the other side of the point will cut into your profits and holding non viable items that have no sellable value.
This is where looking for nuggets of information on release date for MOP, power leveling guides for professions and deciphering the latest pandesque rumors will set you to be able to walk a fine line. Without the need to fall over and lose your goblin owed cash.
Good Luck and Good Hunting
