Every so often when doing a gold run, I hear the rumblings of someone saying "why isn't your dps like mine?". There are lots of different parts that make someone having a high or low dps. Gear level, ability, reaction time, random number generators. Most of the time I generally ignore these taunts since I'm happy with the dps output I do on most of my characters.
But it does bring to mine of just how much higher can my gold per second (or gold per login) be increased. Am I selling everything I can, at the best prices I can get. What stock should I be rotating through while other items should be sitting to the side to sell at a later point.
Just the same to increase DPS is with observation and placement. If I die to quickly, it's probably because I'm standing in something green, or blue or polka dotted that is causing my healer to want to chew on their keyboard. With gold making am I falling into traps from others? Have I started a bidding war for minor items that won't give me enough profit for my time? Has laziness and lack of vision caused me not to squeeze a market to it's limit without crossing my ethical boundaries? These are questions that I ask myself everytime I feel that my gold amount per day is slipping. Domination of the market should be my gold goblin view everytime I log in. Topping the DPS charts on raids should also be my ultimate goal.
So the next time someone says to you "why isn't your DPS this big", respond with "and why aren't you sitting on a million gold in your guild bank?". It always brings a smile to my heart.
Good luck and Good Hunting
