Not So Bottomless Bag of Holding

There is one thing in common that every player has.   Every player starts the game and ends the game just the same way.   No matter if they play for one hour or for 1000 hours.   They all will need and use bags at some point.

There are lots of different bags in World of Warcraft.   From the Penny Pouch that is looted from the Headless Horsemen during Hallow's End event to the crafted profession bags for all of the professions. Each bag gives more slots to a player.  More slots give a player more room as they explore and adventure among Azeroth and beyond.

I was raised that if you didn't have something to say nicely,   write it down.  In this case a player who is leveling for the first time has very little if no gold.   There is a high chance they won't have 1500 gold to buy one of the large profession bags.   In many cases they might not have the 150 gold to buy an 18 or 20 slot crafted bag (Imbued Netherweave or Frostweave Bag).  This is why the highest concentration of bag sales will be Netherweave bags for resell.

So can this logic of limited money be applied to profession bags?   In fact it can.   Most players will not want to spend 1500g for the luxury of a 36 slot inscription bag (Royal Scribe's Satchel).  But these same players will be willing to pay 300-400g for a 32 slot inscription bag (Pack of Endless Pockets).

This same logic can be brought to all of the professions that have extra large bags requiring exotic materials,  and lower level bags that do not require the same extensive material list.  But is more apt to sell to newer players.

So being willing to list not just the high price bags,  but also the medium and lower end bags will allow you to profit on both ends of the scale.  Catering your product to players with large amounts of gold,  while also giving you the option of continual sales as players gain more and more gold in their coffers.

Here are some of the bags and their slots

Enchanting:

Otherworldly Bag (36 Slot)
Mysterious Bag (32 Slot)

Leatherworking:

Trappers Traveling Pack (28 Slot)
Leatherworker's Satchel  (20 Slot)

Mining:

Triple Reinforced Mining Bag (36 Slots)
Mammoth Mining Bag (32 Slot)

Inscription:

Royal Scribe's Satchel (36 Slot)
Pack of Endless Pockets (32 Slot)

Jewelcrafting:

Luxurious Silk Gem Bag (36 Slot)
Bag of Jewels (32) Slot)

Engineering:

Elementium Toolbox
Titanium Toolbox

Fishing:
Lure Master Tackle Box (only fishing box available)

Herbalism:

Hyjal Expedition Bag (36 slot)
Emerald Bag (32 Slot)

The Lower slot bags require less materials,  so their price will be lower than the bigger bags requiring the exotic materials.   Having all levels of bags to offer depending on price of the manufacturing can net a player in that profession a large pile of gold.

Tailoring in Mists of Pandaria get ahold of a 28 slot bag called the Royal Satchel.   A large amount of materials is required to make each bag.   So many players will settle for lower economy bags or bags they obtain running instances.  There will always be players wanting the biggest and best.  For much of the stable money will be found in the lower and upper bags.

Even 6 slot and 14 slot bags found while questing are easy resells to new players.   A few gold here or there can bring extra slots to completely new players.    Look for a lot of 6-12 slot bags to be found on the auction house at profit making listing.

The idea of a bag economy is to cover all of the needs of the players.  If higher end bags end up being more profitable than middle level bags.  Then concentrating on those can obtain a higher profit range.  If the opposite is in case.  Generating more mid level slot bags and a few higher end could balance gold economy in your favor.

Either way making both sets of bags and being prepared with materials for each bag (and the recipes) before Mists of Pandaria open will set you to smooth sailing.

Good Luck and Good Hunting

Its all in the bag

For those that have asked,  or even if you've just asked yourself.  I've been having some personal issues
that's prevented me from writing.   Hopefully they are taken care of.    But on with the show.

Anyone who has played wow will tell you.  It's all in the bags. from the 16 slot [Netherweave Bags] crafted by tailors.   To the larger profession bags that add multiple slots to your toons personal storage ability.

But one of the biggest questions to ask is which one should I have?   Should I use the 32 slot [Pack of Endless Pockets] for my crafting inscriptionist.  Or just use the now common 16 slot bags found from multiple locations (you can even get larger storage bags from rare drops in certain dungeons and running quests).

It's really all about time and storage on why it's important to have as much bag space available for it's use.   Many of my toons I've leveled to 85 and then they just are used for crafting.   So it becomes more important for them to carry profession specific bags to give more room to store items.    Where two of my characters are used for raiding,  so they need the flexibility of regular bags to store anything,  plus also the ability to store mats during crafting cycles.

Also remember when looking at bag storage your personal bank for each character uses bag for it's storage area as well.   Swapping between regular bags and profession bags much each to move crafting materials between the bank and being on hand.   Leatherworking and blacksmithing makes this a very useful idea when swapping out bars and skins.

Gathering toons always will enjoy the convenience of the larger storage bags for skinning and mining.   Where the highest bags can become expensive depending on the server economy,  you might look at the slightly lower level bags that can be made available for a few coins.

If you don't have the crafting ability to make the large bags,   don't forget to just advertise having the materials and offering a tip to the crafter.   It can easily save you 100's of gold just for a few moments time.

One of my favorite sites Crafters Tome will give you a good idea of what bags are available for crafting
in the chosen profession.

Good luck and good hunting

Bags, And How to Maximize Gold When Selling Them, Part 2

Hey everyone, Alerick here again here to talk to you all again this week about bags. In this post I will elaborate on some of the profession specific bags, as well as a possible bag niche market on your server that could net you a bunch of gold.

Herbalism/Alchemy Bag (can also be used for inscription materials like herbs):

As of now, the most up to date(one with the most slots) bag for holding herbs is the Hyjal Expedition Bag. This bag costs 20 bolts of embersilk cloth ( 100 cloth), and 40 volatile life. This is quite a useful bag to have because it can be used for three seperate professions that end up using most of the same materials; predominantly herbs. This is useful if you plan on farming herbs in bulk, as well as if you are going through a process that takes a lot of herbs/bag space. Ex. Milling a ton of stacks of herbs for inks for mysterious fortune cards, glyphs, relics, or Darkmoon cards, or creating flasks and potions in bulk to sell on a raid night.

Molten front, including the Mining, Jewelcrafting, and Inscription Bags:

There were three bags 36 slot bags for Mining, Inscription, Jewelcrafting introduced to the game with the arrival of Firelands and the Molten Front daily quests in Patch 4.2. These bags are all 36 slotters, meaning that they are currently the most high end bags, and oftentimes the most in demand. The downside to these is the amount of work that needs to go into unlocking these bags. You have to unlock the actual vendors for these patterns on one of your characters that either has Tailoring or Leatherworking. Overall though, since these bags are currently the best in-game they create a buyer base of people who want the best, and will usually be willing to spend gold to get them. Although you won't be able to move these as quickly as you could when people first started unlocking these bag patterns, they are still a good investment because since they are currently the best in their specific professions, they will still sell alright.

Why Being Revered or Higher with the Kaluak on a Tailor or Leatherworker will Benefit You:

Having a revered or higher reputation with The Kaluak on either a Leatherworker or Tailor, will give you access to what I believe to be the largest Skinning/Leatherworking bag as well as an pretty well sized(32 slot)Herb bag. If the WoTLK materials are priced in a reasonable range on your server, buy them and craft these. Oftentimes people won't be looking to buy the absolute best bag possible for their profession, and if there is a decently sized price difference, most buyers will go with the lower priced one every time.

Enchanting/Engineering Bags:

Both of these professions have had access to 36 slot bags since the beginning of Cataclysm. The Engineering one is called an "Elementium Toolbox", and is crafted using Elementium Bars, and Volatile Earth. The Enchanting is called "Otherworldly Bag", and is crafted by Tailors with bolts of Embersilk Cloth, Greater Cosmic Essences, Hypnotic Dust, and Dream Shards. Depending on the price of WoTLK enchanting materials on your server(look into shattering abyss crystals if they aren't) as well as cataclysm dust and cloth, these bags could be a great source of income for you. The toolbox is a bag created by Engineers for use by Engineers. It can contain a number of different items/gear/schematics (526 to be exact) and along with the other bag, looks extremely cheap to craft and sell.

Separate Bag Tip:

This last piece of information was one that I came across while browsing the vendor selection my Traveler's Tundra Mammoth mount had to offer. The vendor Hakmud specifically offers a BoE common bag called a Thick Hide Pack for only 12 gold! This can be sold for a solid markup on the auction house if your netherweave bag market is either unprofitable, or there is too much supply and not enough demand. Diversification is key, and this is a good niche market not too many people know about. If you know, see, or have a mammoth yourself, don't hesitate to give this a shot.
