Patch 5.3: Grasspicking World Order

If you read yesterdays missive we took a look at the mining changes in Patch 5.3.   Not surprising Herbalism received a similar mechanic upgrade.

Players who can get access to Pandaria (level 84 or higher) can start to pick any herbs in Pandaria.   They start off with a 1 to 10 ratio.  Basically for every 10 picks you get one usable plant.   As you continue this ratio becomes better and better till your skill level is able to pick at a 1 to 1 ratio (or higher depending on your guild level,  your picking level etc.).

I didn't believe that mining ore in Pandaria would have a major effect on the economy.   With these changes in Herbalism I'm getting a feeling of the opposite.  Herbalism is a nice farming area especially when combined with a potion or transmute master.   The Druids with flight form can just drop quickly on an herb patch,  pick it and run without anyone knowing they were there.

These changes might not be earth shattering but it could encourage players to make sure they have some type of farmer in their arsenal.  As players become more and more burnt out on content they are going to look for more vegetative opportunities.   Places where they can just gather items and loot and still hold conversations inside their verbal guild halls.

Don't be surprised if the herb market takes a slow hit and then quickly adjusts.   Keeping an eye on the market when Patch 5.3 arrives (expected sometime in the next two weeks) should give a good opportunity to restock the pantry for Herbalism needs.

For scribes this is important as well.   Low costing herbs and inks can help get you back into a stagnant market that inscription has become on many servers.  With the knowledge that players will be finishing off their glyph books to fill in a 3rd specialization this is a prime opportunity to jump back into the market for a quick money fix.

So get your beer (root preferred thank you) and get to pick some grass.   Your army of alternates will be appreciative.

Good Luck and Good Hunting

Patience is a Virtue.

The powers that be at Blizzard seem well not their way to keeping their word when it comes to new content. We are only one week removed from patch 5.2 and the notes for patch 5.3 are already up to be read.

As with any early patch notes there is much gnawing and gnashing of teeth on any changes.  PVP changes (which we will discuss possible opportunities later),  your favorite class getting hammered with the nerf bat or buffed to near legendary status.  In the long run this is a rough draft to what will occur with patch 5.3.

So before everyone grabs their verbal and digital pitchforks lets keep in mind that your comments do end up being heard.  As long as it's not included rants and raves and new combinations of four letter words that you wouldn't say in front of my momma (what you say in front of your mother is entirely up to you).

As MOP starts over the mid point and starting to gain momentum,  people's patience tends to run thing on many things.  Including the running of instances and raids.   Players run instances for one or two items and then they drop the group when it doesn't become their new precious.   It's a nature of the game to see players that get frustrated when a tank goes a little bit slower than they would like.   Remember when your playing that at times you will be dealing with players that are just learning how to tank on an ALT,  or just learning how to heal.   It's a part of the nature of this game to learn new things.  It is what makes things fun and exciting,  or frustrating and hair pulling.

So keep your patience chip on the desk when you get a little agitated by something you do not like.   Figure out whether you're helping someone,  or just ending up being ignored with your 'insightful' comments.   You probably aren't nearly as funny or as sane as you think you sound.

Good Luck and Good Hunting
