JMTC Weekly Meeting

Tonight is the night! Just My Two Copper is hosting a Question and Answer Meeting tonight at 9PM eastern time zone. This is your chance to drop by and have professional gold guru's help you with your gold making woes! The meeting will last approximately 2 hours. Anyone is welcome, you don't need a mic to talk, you just simply need to be there and we'll answer your questions, live! As always, a recording of the meeting will be posted tomorrow morning so whoever couldn't make it can at least listen in on what was asked/answered.

Do not be alarmed once you find out that you're muted and unable to speak ( Will happen promptly at 9PM ). This is normal, we will have everyone muted except a couple of the known professional gold making gurus who will be answering your questions. If you have something you'd like to add to the conversation simply say so in chat and we will gladly unmute you.

The meeting is being held on Teamspeak. This isn't something that WoW players use ( at least to my knowledge ) too often. I'd used ventrilo but the capacity that ventrilo servers can hold just isn't enough. You're going to have to download a program named Teamspeak 3. It's 100% safe and free ( feel free to virus scan it if you don't trust me ). Teamspeak 3 can be download here.

To those of you who can't attend, I've made a forum thread which can be found here in which you can leave your questions at and we'll answer them during the meeting. You'll be able to listen to the answer the following day when the recording is posted.

Teamspeak Server Information:

Server: ts.isimba.org
Port: 9987

Also, anyone is welcome to join the JMTC IRC and ask questions at any time! This is your 24/7 Gold Guru heaven. You've got questions, we've got answers!'

We weren't able to hold a real meeting last week due to low attendance - please show up folks! We can't do the meetings without your questions! This weeks meeting will most likely be 4.2 related, come and drop by to talk to others and see what they're selling, you might learn a new market or two! Hope to see you guys there!

One last thing before I let you go, We might have the Addicted To Azeroth crew joining us tonight, so if you want to sit down and chat with them live tonight's the night! Join us at 9PM EST!

- Mageshadow

What is your most devious gold making strategy?

Pass the twinkies, beer and arctic fur coasters, it's time for the Wow Gold Blogging Carnival! Come one come all, Markco the gold guru with the most commonly misspelled name of all warcraft legends has gathered together quite a collection of wow gold articles from across the Azerothean blogosphere! We have everyone from gold aficionados to common players all mixed together into a smorgasbord of information. Pass the popcorn and enjoy the vast range of topics and cataclysm gold lovin' goodness. Feedback is greatly appreciated and be sure to comment on articles you enjoyed reading. Also let the author know that you found their link via my site to promote collaboration among bloggers. That's the goal of a blogging carnival after all, besides providing excellent content.

Be sure to check out past carnivals and give feedback in the comments on what you'd like the next carnival to be about. If you are a gold blogger and looking for additional ways to generate traffic for your site between carnivals then take a look at Traffic Blogger.

What is your most devious gold making strategy?

WoWMogul
Size. Yes, you heard me right – patience and size. Let me explain: Patience - Building your crafting capacity - toon by toon, profession by profession. Patiently levelling up and getting things ready. Slowly and surely; Patience - Calmly building your Auctioneer data via daily scans so when you strike it will be from a position of knowledge; Patience - Hauling your arse around Azeroth dealing with time wasters as you create your guildbank(s), yes, you will definitely need more than one;

Bangkok Bill's World of Goldcraft
My most devious tactic is generating extra buzz for my sales with my second account. Because I have two computers and two accounts I am able to play two toons at once. I use this to my advantage by having my second toon talk about the item in trade. This works exceedingly well for Mysterious Fortune Cards but I've also been using it lately for other high value items.

The Gold Queen
The title of Mageshadow’s JMTC Blog Carnival calls for bloggers to reveal their most devious gold making strategy. I rub my hands with glee because it would be a perfect time for me to preach my own “be nice!” strategy in contrast. Devious adj not straightforward, shifty or crooked, subtle, cunning, crafty, artful, sly, not sincere or candid, deceitful, underhand, ”a devious scheme to acquire wealth”.

Neckar Unrivaled
The first thing that came to mind when I read this months blogging carnival over on JMTC, which is; “What is your most devious gold making strategy?”. The first thought that came into my head, after I read all the comments was one simple thing. How? That’s where it came down to for me when I wrote this post out. Yes your gonna read about some of my most devious markets, but I wanted to cover a more in-depth idea of how would you be able to target something that is devious vs something that is not. Shall we start

Bids And Buyouts
This is actually a hard post as I am not a very devious person, but this I guess falls into a somewhat devious plan.It started a few months ago when I noticed another gold making banker(who this blog is named after) on my server and started chatting with him a bit, we threw some ideas around and formed an in game friendship. We both wanted to explore new markets and mainly wanted to get into Arbitrage. I wont go into much detail here because there is a ton of info already blogged about for cross faction trading. Faid has put up excellent post about this topic.

Brits Gold Tips
One of my most devious gold making strategies isn't one that is devious per say but it is just taking advantage of what people will do. I will usually post various enchanting mats of the current raiding tier then I will link my enchanting in trade chat. This will usually get people to purchase my mats in order to get the enchant they want made and after I make it for them they will usually tip also. This gets your mats sold and a tip as well for 5 minutes of work. You can of course use this for any profession.

Just My Two Copper
Personally I love my own and special favorite gold making strategy of turning in Sulfuron Ingots for the plans for the Sulfuron Hammer. It's a very devious strategy as I buy the ingots for 500-800g per turn them in and sell the plans for triple and sometimes quadruple of what I paid. I've sold a number of them in the past months totaling for up to 46,000g in profits. The only downside to this method is that you can only turn in the ingot once per character and they have to be 55+ in order to enter BRD.

That's all for this month folks! An excellent set of submissions from the blogosphere, be sure to drop by and leave a comment or two on their blogs! Also be sure to check out the past JMTC Blogging Carnivals for even more great stuff to read!

Note: Bloggers don't forget about the upcoming carnival! The topic is What's your favorite old world method of making gold. Please get your submissions in early! I sent out e-mails 3 weeks ago - if you wish to participate but did/are not receiving the Blogging Carnival newsletters please e-mail me at Artsytorres AT gmail DOT com and I'll send you the info.

I especially liked her post on Supply Vs Demand and how to deal with it. Check her blog out if you haven't already, A+ stuff!

Stokpile

Best of luck Shamaenei, hope you decide to stick around!

Gimps Golden Adventure
Last but not least we have Gimp, a brand new blogger that is welcomed with open arms. He attended this following weeks JMTC meeting so you guys kind of sort of met him. While the blog is still sort of new, the few posts that he has up seems spectacular. Check out his post on how to fully take advantage of the Remote Auction House App while it lasts, the info there is incredible for both newbies and gold gurus ( I learned something myself! ). Watch out for Gimp in the future folks! Make sure to check his blog often!

Prncesspwn's AH
Since being on this quest for gold capped, I've always knew what I was gonna do when I get gold-capped. I've always said I'm gonna buy every mount in the game & every pet I can find. Since I'm a pet and mount collector this makes since for me, because before I seriously considered collecting serious amounts of gold, I couldn't finish my 100 mount achievement, because I never had enough money to get the last 6 mounts I need.

Bangkok Bill's World of Goldcraft
Well the basic answer to that is easy. I'll set aside 100k to spend on any doodads that I want and then use the rest to speed me on my way to two million gold. The thing I haven't decided is how risk averse I will be in my path to two million gold. I could use the 900k in a relatively safe manner - sticking to whatever tried and true tricks of the goldmaking trade are profitable at the time.

Auction House Addict
Well, I would really like the 100 mount achievement so I guess I'll buy mounts to make up that total & also the pet achieves. I still haven't bought a chopper or the traveler's tundra mammoth so I guess I'd have to allow myself those luxuries but whether I splash out for all my level 85's or just for 1 or 2, I don't know yet. I suppose I should treat my ever suffering husband to something special & probably a few of my closest guildies too but I don't quite know what yet!

Player Vs Auction House
If you have been using Auditor for any length of time, there is feature of it that is useless 99% of the time, but this happens to fall under the 1%: total audit. The release of 4.0 broke most of my addons beyond repair, so this is only since Cataclysm was released. I broke the 400k mark for the first time a few days ago, but nearly 2 million gold has whipped through my bags in the last five months. Does that not count? Why do I say "I've broken the 400k mark for the first time?"

The Gold Queen
Hey guys, ever really really been attracted to a gorgeous girl (or guy) and flirted your heart out, and been slightly disappointed when she turned out to be a big pushover? Ever been back to an old dungeon in World of Warcraft, like Scarlet Monastery or Molten Core, and remembered how difficult the pulls were, how hard it was to complete and then felt a bit mellow to discover those bosses you worked on for so long were now just a walk in the park.

Dark Tuesday
To actually hit the gold cap, and then spend the gold, I’d have to stop doing half of what I love most… spending gold.  The other half is making gold.  Spending gold at that level presents an actual challenge if you’ve been buying up the gold sink items all along the way. I and my friends have the choppers and the Tundra Mammoth and every other (normal) gold sink there is.

Capped By Cata
This one is quite an interesting question. What would you do if you hit the new Gold Cap? Well, I don't really think a lot would change. Other then that fact I would spend my way back down. The original Gold Cap of 214k had sort of a nostalgia factor, while this newly imposed cap doesn't feel quite the same to me. Anyway, I think my goals would stay the same. I would still look for the newest ways to make Gold. Focus on consistency overtime, and continue to develop the content I bring to you guys.

Just My Two Copper
Personally I think this is a great topic that bloggers can write about. I'm almost at 600k, what would I do with my million gold? Trading Card Game mounts for one, I've had my eye on a swift spectral tiger for a while, and a mottled drake & a riding turtle wouldn't hurt. I'd also probably buy a couple achievements/mounts that are obtained through raiding, mainly Invincible and Mimiron's head. I'd also probably hand out some gifts to my friends, mainly choppers and sandstone drakes.

Xander's Gold Mine
Well I already have a hard time keep a hold of the gold I do have. But my problem is not spending it on vanity items its spending it to make more. But if I was to have a million I wouldn’t stop anything I am currently doing right now I would still be making gold. But I would also be able to buy whatever the hell I wanted. Be it armor, pets, mounts. I think when I reach the 1,000,000 gold. My quest to obtain every mount possible in game will be able to be put into action.

WoW or Gold
With 1 million (currently sitting at 800k+) gold at my disposal i'll be happy about having reached my goal. It will feel like a good accomplishment after all these years of auctioneering and learning about gold making. When i've reached my first million i'll pat myself on the back and say "job well done!". After that i'll set my aim on the next big WoW goal. That goal will either be a gold related goal, ie. accumulating 3 million gold or it could be a gaming related goal like levelling Alliance Grayz to 85, get active with PvP or even PvE on my main (level 85 Hunter).

Alto's Goldish Advice
Well, most of you know I am capped. Been that way for a while now. I guess the thing that I see the most is folks say they will purchase "this, this, and this" when they get there. The drag is, I gotta call bullshit on that. Your spending will follow the same you do now. Let me rephrase, if you blow your gold now (no, not that way xander...) you will continue to do so. If you spend very little, keep your gold close to you, then you will cap and then some.

That's all for this month folks! An excellent set of submissions from the blogosphere, be sure to drop by and leave a comment or two on their blogs! Also be sure to check out the past JMTC Blogging Carnivals for even more great stuff to read!

JMTC Weekly Q&A Meeting Recording

Howdy guys and girls, last night we had another fantastic meeting. A wide variety of topics were discussed during the meetings, and I'm really happy with the outcome. I've decided to stop using podomatic since someone gave me access to their hosting, so I'll be using that from now on, now don't worry you'll still get your stream, it'll just be a little different.

Do not that I had to leave the meeting early due to a small emergency ( non related to my sister as prncesspwn said during the meeting ) no harm done though the crew & especially prncesspwn kept the show running while I was gone. She also did the timestamps, so be sure to thank her for the hard work!

To those of you who wish to download the meeting instead, follow this link to find yourself a multiupload link. Hope you enjoy it!

Up-and-coming Cataclysm Gold Blogs #2

Hello guys and gals! Welcome to another edition of Up & Coming Cataclysm Gold Blogs! This is something new that I'm starting at JMTC, every month or so I will do a post like this outlining the new gold making blogs that are out there and link you to them. I know most of you enjoy the stuff posted here at JMTC but we aren't the only ones posting quality content, there are TONS of other people who do the same thing I do, and I'm not going to lie; sometimes better. Any who, let's get started shall we? :)

Xander's Gold Mine
This is a bud of mines blog, you guys might recognize him from the friday night weekly Q&A Meetings, well if you don't know he's got his own blog with tons of great content. He's a frequent poster and recently re-designed his site to give it a more polished feel. Simply an A+ blog that's got some very interesting ideas. Check it out when you have the time, worth a read!

Copper Silver Gold
Another awesome blog which I just recently found. I love the way the site is designed ( I love a simplistic yet elegant look ). He's got simply great content and I love his writing style. The writer is a very out of the box thinker with very in-depth posts on said subjects. Overall a great blog to read if you have time, I read it whenever a new post is released! Best of luck to you, hope to see you 3 months down the road! ( Sorry I couldn't find your name! )

Kuja's Gold Mine
Another blog which I recently found/was told about. Kuja seems to focus on the hard hitting & big gold making methods. He's got excellent methods that will make you gold, either if you're a veteran or a newbie just starting out in the gold game. I really love reading his posts, they're detailed and entertaining, some of the titles grasp your attention and make you wonder oooh, what could it be? Again, if you have time, give this blog a read, you will not be disappointed.

Srsbussiness
This blog has actually been around for quite a while, I'm not exactly sure but it's pre-cata for sure. The site has an excellent website design, very clean, cut and sleek. The content is the same; clean, organized and in-depth. Not a everyday poster, but still very much worth the read, I mean have you seen his awesome speculation post on epic gems? Overall, an awesome blog that you be read whenever you have the time to do so. Keep up the good Khaas! Hope you blog for a long time to come! :)

To The Readers:
This is a small sample of the many blog out there, most of them are good and provide great information, if you have the time leave a comment on their blog guys, they'll appreciate it, trust me. I know this because I appreciated it greatly when i was starting out at the Gnomish Coin. Taking 5 seconds of your time to tell someone, hey great job makes their day and it's not very hard.

Another fantastic meeting in the book folks! A ton of awesome questions were asked and to be quite frank some of them surprised me. Unfortunetly I was not able to do timestamps last night, and I currently don't have time to do so, they will be added later on tonight - around 11 or 12pm EST so look forward to that. I've got a couple ideas planned out for these meeting to help improve them, if you have any suggestions you're welcome to drop a comment below and it will be taken into consideration :)

JMTC Weekly Q&A Meeting

You've got questions, we've got answers!

Up-and-coming Cataclysm Gold Blogs

Hello guys and gals! Welcome to another edition of Up & Coming Cataclysm Gold Blogs! This is something new that I'm starting at JMTC, every month or so I will do a post like this outlining the new gold making blogs that are out there and link you to them. I know most of you enjoy the stuff posted here at JMTC but we aren't the only ones posting quality content, there are TONS of other people who do the same thing I do, and I'm not going to lie; sometimes better. Any who, let's get started shall we? :)

Exploiting My Server
A new blog recently started up by a fellow reader & friend of mine - Sinku. So far he's got great content on the site and is posting frequently ( everyday it seems ). One thing I can safely say about this guy: he's got awesome ideas around every corner, I mean just go look at the content posted on his site! He really thinks outside the box on some of these posts, I know on several of his posts I went " huh.. why didn't I think of that ". I found his post on how to make over 1,000g by sitting in stormwind very interesting, you guys should go read it!

The Gold Queen
The second of the new gold blogs that just recently popped up. The Gold Queen just recently did a site re-design and moved URL's and I must say it's looking pretty nice! This is another blogger that likes to think outside the box, which is why I like reading the content posted here. One of the things I liked about her site is that she's a JMTC Coach, but she goes a step further beyond that; she gives you a personalized ebook everytime you have/get a session with her. To me that's priceless, something that's tailored to your own and specific needs is simply awesome. I found her post on Influential Gold Bloggers very nice, as it provides a nice list of gold blogs that helped The Gold Queen get to where she is now. Go take 5 short minutes and surf through her site guys, some pretty awesome content in there!

Specialize or Diversify? Control one market or dip your toes into several?

Bangkok Bill's World of Goldcraft:
Specializing tends to be easier; you know your market better; and takes less time; while diversifying takes more time; can lead you to sometimes post things at less than the optimal amount due to lack of knowledge/time; but does help ensure profits in the case of one market drying up. So which should you do?

Break The Bank
Interesting timing for this carnival topic. I just finished writing a series on buyer awareness, at the end of which I proposed a non-traditional take on diversification. The question itself is not easily answered since it doesn’t really come down to choosing one over the other, but rather to knowing when to specialize and when to diversify. I think I’ll begin to answer this question by first of all expanding it from two options to four.

Bank of Wukam
The topic this month is whether it is better to focus on one market, controlling it completely, or to spread yourself over multiple markets, always ensuring you have your hand in something. The obvious and easy answer is, of course, "both!" But obvious and easy answers are rarely much fun. So instead, I'll try to break them down, and figure out which choice is best under what circumstances.

Nerf Faids
I first came into the real community of gold making last fall.  Someone in a community I read had just reached the gold-cap and I wanted to be just like them.  They did it entirely through glyphs back when they were booming in early Wrath and I set forth to do the same.  I did the exact same thing. Glyphs glyphs glyphs 24/7. It's all I sold.  I was on my toon every 20 minutes cancelling and reposting.

Xander's Gold Mine
Well there are many answers to this question if you could choose to do one or the other or even  both. There is really no right answer its what you want to do. Lets take a look at all three possibilities and then at the end I will give you my opinion.

Kaliope's Wow Crafting Blog
The latest Carnival topic from JMTC got me thinking about the idea of whether it's better to specialize or diversify as a new Auction House player. Obviously folks who've been playing the markets for a while have already made their choice on this question, so its the newcomers who generally face this issue. Given my background in tech support, I tend to follow the KISS philosophy when introducing new ideas to people. It's easy for players to get overwhelmed in a game as complex as WoW, so why not start in a small pond and work your way up? This is why I would advocate specializing for the budding auction house dabbler.

Stylish Black Shirt
My general answer is diversification is far better than specialization.  In WoW, markets aren't limited by scarcity in the traditional sense.  The few markets that are limited are thus constrained by drop rates.  Those markets become difficult to control, because savvy players will list those items at prices that reflect the value of the item. You can't necessarily control a market the same way that DeBeers controlled the diamond market for many years.

Player Vs Auction House
If there is ever a question between whether you should specialize or diversify in a particular market or just in general, the correct answer is to specialize in diversity. A lot of AH advice is sort of wishy-washy "do what feels right for you" but this is one of the big, unequivocal no-brainers. Diversify, branch out, get your thumbs in as many pies as you can.

Fat Jack's Wow Gold Rush
Sometimes we find ourselves in a position where we need to reevaluate where we are at, and if we're smart it may be necessary to readjust our direction. For me I've just hit that point in game. I had dropped a lot of gold into leveling some of my professions. I only have a Druid that has made it to 85. And my operating cash (gold) stores had dwindled down. So it was time to readjust my business plan to move back to profitability. To be honest I'm an average guy with a hectic life.

The Gold Queen
An unusual situation is taking shape slowly and surely in World of Warcraft as the market matures, players gain more knowledge, more experience of the AH, of addons, and of items.  The market becomes more saturated with items for sale, and the limiting factor in the number of items you can sell becomes more and more dependent on time, rather than gold.

Alto's Gold"ish" Advice
How good are you on the AH? Have you hit 10K, 50K, 500K, a Million? Whichever spot you are at, you mos def need to use what you have to get there. Think about that a second.....

Auction House Addict
For me, diversify is my natural habit - I have most profs maxed now (except BS & Eng) & although I am currently spending most time on JC & Inscription, I'm also popping over to my LW'er when a blog post comes up that reminds me of something or to my bank alt mage to do a quick teleport around the capital cities for vendor items.

The Vayaz
The first problem we come across is the one I mentioned at the beginning: Time. At the first glance, specialising in certain markets seems like the idea to go, because the maximum level of diversification (i.e., presence in every market) will basically eat all your time.

That's all for this month folks! An excellent set of submissions from the blogosphere, be sure to drop by and leave a comment or two on their blogs! Also be sure to check out the past JMTC Blogging Carnivals for even more great stuff to read!
