5 things you should be selling... Cooking

If you missed our last episode:  Five things you should be selling: Engineer Edition here is the setup for our plan to make gold.

First the rules of the road.

1.   All recipes have to be obtained by either Training,  purchasing from a vendor or via reputation.
2.   No World drops or items that would require a larger than life grind to obtain (ala Fireland dailies)
3.   Materials can be gathered or crafted,   not requiring BOP dropped items or boss farmed items.
4.   Each item should make a minimum of 30% profit over cost of crafting.

And now on with the show.

Cooking.   From Spice bread (definitely sounded better than it probably tasted) all the way to Seafood Magnifique Feast,  cooking is used for both enjoyable changes in how your toon looks.  To powerful buffs for raiding and questing.   For some it can be a huge money maker,   if you know what recipes to grab and to sell.

1.  [Small Feast]

Originally this was a mid range raid/instance food for parties to get that quick pick me up between pulls.  Now it's been overshadowed by larger amounts of mana/health replenishment.  But the most enjoyable part of this is that it makes your toon 30% smaller,  and can stack with many of the different foods/potions/items that can change size and shape.   Grab a [Noggenflogger elixir] from the tanaris questing and you can be the smallest pirate.  Or the tiniest Ninja.    Plus with the larger amounts of alts that will be created soon,  this could be a nice money maker for just a few wrath cooking tokens and some basic materials (2x [Glacial Salmon], 2x [Nettlefish],  2x [Rhino Meat] and 1x [Northern Spices]

2.  [Gigantic Feast]

The counterpart to the [Small Feast],   Who doesn't want to look 30% larger.  Does this feast make me look fat?  2x [Chunk o Mammoth]. 2x [Deep Sea Monsterbelly],  2x [Rockfin Grouper],  1x [Northern Spices] should sell well now and in the future for new alts created.    Look for not just the feast itself,  but many of the mats to be in demand as more players enter the warcraft realms with Mist's of Panderia  release.

3.  [Tracker Snacks]

This has sales that can be up and down depending on what it's used for.  During the Pilgrims Bounty holiday it's in high demand for it's useful during the [The Turkinator] achievement.  It's also valuable for non hunters who are grinding out materials or just farming for skins.    1x [Shoveltusk Flank]  and 1 [Northern Spice] can bring in good gold.

4.  [Chocolate Cookie]

These are continuous sellers   Simply for the idea that it's used for the [[You'll Feel Right as Rain] achievement.  Plus who doesn't want to bring cookies to a raid.   Just do not forget the [Ice Cold Milk].   The [cocoa beans] can be purchased from the Token daily recipes in your faction major city.  The [Fresh Water] and [Simple Flour] from the cooking suppliers in the same general area.    Now someone make a warcraft oatmeal chew and I will be happy.

5.  [Fortune Cookie]

What other food can you get both a very sizable buff (90 stamina + 90 in your core class stat) plus have a chance to win 5000g?   With [Mysterious Fortune Card] on some servers going for 4-6g per,   you cannot lose to buy and craft these.  Costing only a couple of cooking tokens,  if you have maxxed out your cooking profession these will continue to be sales all through the winding down of cataclysm and into the next expansion.   Take 1 [Mysterious Fortune Card]  + 1 [Simple Flour] and craft gold into your bag.

There are other food recipes that can sell well depending on the climate of your server.  [Great Feast] is used for the achievement [Dinner Impossible],   for your pvp achievement lovers.   As well as many of the low level items that are used to keep leveling toons at their peak abilities.

What other recipes are selling on your server?    Or does your cooking skills need more work?

Dealing with the mid sales blahs

Every sales goblin has it happen.   The normal routine of posting sales,  crafting items,  raking in gold becomes a low paying second job.    Waking up in the morning,   signing on and going through the routine that has netted you hundreds of thousands of gold.

Events such as Love is in the air or lunar festival become just another gold grab instead of enjoying the event.   The Swift Lovebird becomes another dollar sign instead of a majestic steed (yes,  I said majestic with a straight face).

This is the time to adjust your views and renew some of the goals that you set aside for the love of the gold.   Putting aside one of your gold making routines and doing more of the "practical" adventures of wow.   Have you finished your Loremaster title on your toons?   Lead a team into Icecrown to whoop a little lich king butt?

Gold Runs through old content is an awesome way of changing the tempo of your gold making business.    The bonus in letting your toons get titles and enjoy the content from a new perspective.
Did you run Ulduar as a melee DPS?   Try it as a ranged,  or even the dreaded healing class.

Changing your pattern of gold making might not make you a ton of gold,  but it will breath life into your experience when the game starts become stale.

Good luck and good hunting

Secret of my success

Dont flip out

Your Milage May Vary

Go to this place and farm.   Put this on the Auction House and sell it.   Flip this item for large amounts of profit.   Multiple journals carry multiple amounts of threads on how to obtain gold on warcraft.

Many of our writers have different varying ways of stating their point of view.  Some are able to put a more technical analysis on their gold making journey.  Others tend to put more of a homespun wording on how they present the information.  Others couldn't spell if their life depended on it.   No matter what information is offered,  or how they present it,  one complete axiom is the same.

This idea may not work on your server.

Sorry to have to break the news to you on this.  But no idea is 100% guaranteed to work completely.   These tips and ideas are not sham-wow tested and approved.  And when someone posts up a tip,  they fully understand that you may not be able to add this to your repertoire of ideas to make gold.

Transmuting volatiles,   flipping epic level patterns,  buying raw gems and crafting to higher selling items.  None of these listed methods will work completely.   The only guaranteed 100% add-on that will work and guarantee money making opportunities is learning how to think outside the box.   No matter how an add-on is presented as being foolproof,  there is always a fool well engaged in proving that description incorrect.

So why is it important to know this when your reading the writings of JMTC?   Because hopefully you have picked up as you read our entries,  that the authors are not just wanting you to see information in a specific format.  But we are hard at work trying to show you how to think for yourself.     Saronite ore might not be a good option of prospecting.  But that thorium that someone posted up for 10g a stack sure looks interesting and might generate profit.   Every piece of information you are presented is one step to add to your stack of knowledge.  Because that item might not generate a profit for you now.   Later on it might be just what you need to jumpstart a sagging economic downturn.

Money making is not a go here and farm this,  craft this, sell this type of system.   Your brain and your ability to think will create loads more money than any journal or warcraft blog can teach you.   Our hopes are to just be able to nudge you in the right direction,  and then present ideas that might help in the long run.

If we can give you one idea that will allow you to expand your empire into another area.  And bring you that much closer to your goals.  Then we have done our jobs.

"The Gamblers" Guide to making Gold

Growing up in Iowa music was very important to me. Many times it would set my mood
for the day.  From listening to an old 8 track player (ask your parents if you're not sure what
that really is) to slipping a cassette tape into a player.   Even today I will add an mp3 to my Ipod
to drive me through the day.

But even in music,  we can learn lessons.  Some of them are lessons we already know.   But then
some can be relearned as the days go by.

Playing the auction house is very much like a poker game.  But it goes by many of it's own rules.
And where many will assume you're playing against another auction goblin.   In reality you're  playing against the auction house and your own mental accuity.   Let's go over the rules that we can learn:

1)  Know when to hold em'

Everyone has run into that day where the bloodletting of undercutting is at an all time high.
One person lists a Inferno ruby at 110g.   Next person lists it at 109g and so on til it gets
to it's barely profitable line of 90g per.    But there is no doubt that  when all of those cheap gems are sold you can get your money,  and more on the weekend if you just drop those extras in the bank for one or two days.   Hold onto them when everyone has burnt through their stacks and you are the only gem game in town.    Sometimes it's even profitable to see 4 or 5 gems at a low price and flip the market.   Grab them at 90g and then flip everything up to 175g per.   One or two sales and then the rest of your sales are profit.   Gamblers always have an ace in the hole and a deuce up their sleeve.

2)  Know when to fold em'

Looking at the auction house market.   Question yourself, what raw materials can be converted to finished products for sale?  Where an obsidium bar may not sell on it's own,  your blacksmith can create  folded obsidium.   Ask a premium price and you have just made double your investment.   Same with "folding" your mats into scrolls instead of just listing them in groups of raw materials.   Have extra Savage Leather to sell?    Craft 10 of these to 1 piece Heavy Savage Leather and list it for twice the price.   The Gambler knows when to rake in the profits.

3)  Know when to walk away

Someone has come into one of your favorite markets (Inscription is a great example) and listed all
of the glyphs at 20g per glyph.   Rubbing your head and looking at your Darkmoon Faire Cards questioning "how can I make money at that price?".   Answer yourself this way:  walk away from
inscription and let them burn their stock out.   Concentrate on mastering a new branch of inscription
(Crafted Offhands,  PVP Relics,  Darkmoon Faire Cards) and you will be back on top,  with the added
money making opportnity.    The Gambler always knows there is a new poker game opening somewhere.

4)  Know when to run

Between visits to the Auction House,   Run an instance.   4.3 has introduced that Chaos Orbs will be
BOE,   giving it a large demand for those that want items crafted.    Buying and selling Chaos Orbs
will be a big boost in the economy as people go to craft epic items.    Run instances now so that you
have a stockpile of them to drop on the AH.    Have you been running Direbrew boss?    Gearing up your alternate toons?   Fill that idle space with even the idea of selling your tank and pocket healer
for 100g a run.    With 4.3 endgame approaching people will be looking more and more to have their
toons geared up.    The Gambler always knows when it's time to get a few more gold for your time
and effort.

5)   You never count your money,  when your sitting at the table

BBD should be your new motto (Bigger,  Better Deal).   Offer packages of the PVP gear.  Full Bloodthirsty leather gear for 6k.   Full Ornate pyrium gear for 7k.   Have you checked the PTR's for the new recipes?    Know what volatiles to save to craft those recipes right at the restart of the server?
Your only as good as your last deal,  and there is always time for a Gambler to make another deal.

6)  There will be time enough for counting when the deal is done

At the end of the day,  did you make enough gold?   What is your goal?  Make 1000g an hour?
Buy your entire raid group Mecha-hogs?    Set your goals,  meet your goals,  then move onto your
next goal.    Your making gold at a higher rate than 90% of the server population.    Gamblers know when to tip their cap and move onto the next game.

It's all in fun,   is there any new information provided?  Of course not.   But in the long run,  gold making is supposed to be fun.  Entertainment is why we pay the money every month.  And in this case,   it becomes a personal quest on why we play the auction house.  Why we announce our crafting wares in trade chat.  Why we run hastily to get that 25g tip for crafting an item.   Performing our trade chat version of Mister Burns swimming in his millions of gold to entertain the masses?  Why we will do anything for the sake of more toon pocket money?

Tune in next week for how Metallica makes me money.   Unless Lars sues me too.    Maybe Not....

Ultimate Cataclysm Gold Making Addon

I've been dreaming of an addon like this for years. I used to have to keep track of dozens of gold strategies in my head while playing and more often than not I'd forget to buy an item on my snatch list or to post a bunch of epic gear in my bank. With this addon, even someone with as little time to play the game as me could keep dozens of gold strategies organized and automated for maximum efficiency. Did I mention that the best cataclysm gold strategies are already implemented into this beauty? Yeah, it's that amazing.

See for yourself:

Tycoon: The Mailbox Bustin' Gold Addon

Tycoon is the dream I've been having for over four years. A gold making addon that is updated for the most recent strategies, organizes them for you and turns your account into a gold making machine on auto-pilot. It's an auctioneer's wetdream.

No more fumbling with auctioneer settings. No more worrying about getting undercut.

Go see what I'm talking about. Check out Tycoon: The Mailbox Bustin' Gold Addon! You may not make 30,000 gold per day like the addon is promising, but I'm sure that you could easily make 5,000-10,000 gold with very little effort.
