Cataclysm Comes Tomorrow for JMTC

What is a Content Manager?

A content manager collects, edits and publishes all content on the site. Initially, the content manager will only be handling posts and comment moderation, but eventually if all goes well he will also be handling emails and additional social aspects of the site.

Why Get One?

The #1 reason for getting a new content manager is to provide better content for you, the reader. At the moment, I need time to work on my cataclysm gold guide and to get up to speed with the world of cataclysm. For instance, yesterday I spent three hours going through nine of the new leveling zones in Kalimdor, documenting limited sale items as well as valuable farming spots and sharing gold making tips. When I started this blog I was entirely sure in my abilities and knowledge of world of warcraft, but with the new expansion I'm going to have to hit the ground running while looking for lots of new ways to make gold. I know my limits (yes I actually have some) and I will not be able to provide you with the best content, write my gold guide and play the game at the same time. You may remember that I tried hiring some 20 authors to make my life easier on this site but it only turned into an article reviewing nightmare. So after giving this conundrum much thought I came up with the idea of hiring a content manager as the solution to my time constraints.

I'm also putting effort into a brand new site called Traffic Blogger, which is a blog focused on helping authors attract a community of readers to their own sites. I'll be taking the lessons I learned from two years blogging at JMTC and sharing them in great detail with the audience at Traffic Blogger. Without the new content manager here at JMTC I would be unable to create this additional resource, which will indirectly create better content for you by helping out any gold bloggers who take the time to learn from it.

What Do YOU Get Out of This?

I'm grooming the new content manager to be just like me, only with more time on his hands to write great posts about world of warcraft. You're going to get lots of helpful pointers with tips that make you want to run to the auction house as well as the occasional high level, bird's eye view post on economics from myself. What's more, this guy is very active in PVE and can bring a new perspective to the blog which I cannot provide. So yes, you will now have two writers instead of one here at JMTC. If this works as well as I hope you may be getting more over time.

So Who Is the New Content Manager?

Euripides: Gold Capped and Insider Trader

Before I get into the review of my friend, Euripides, I'd like to go over some news bits for the community.

  • The Carnival, "Cataclysm Gold Strategies", is scheduled for December 2nd, so get your posts published onto your blogs and then send me your links asap. The posts are featured in the order that they are received.
  • A cataclysmic change is coming to JMTC in the form of a new community manager! This already famous blogger is being trained to fullfill your gold making needs and prepared to start on December 1st. As we get closer to that date I will be giving you more information, so stay tuned!
  • Friday posts are "Markco's Corner", where I talk about anything I'd like to talk about related to wow instead of just wow gold tips.
  • Cataclysm Gold Guide efforts continue and I am working towards developing strategies for Cataclysm's professions and cross professions. I expect that these will be released on and around December 7th, with updates coming fast and furious throughout the expansion.
Now for the review...

There are two names everyone in the gold making business of world of warcraft know who are serious about being informed: Euripides and Markco. You know who I am, but perhaps you don't know who Euripides is? Even if you do, this review of Euripides and his efforts in the gold making community will be well worth the read.

Happy B-Day JMTC, Cataclysm Gold Awaits!

Retweet, tell your friends on facebook, mention JMTC in a youtube video, post on the wow forums, or race out your front door and shout at the top of your lungs: "HAPPY BIRTHDAY JMTC!" Well that last one is probably the least effective, but to each his own!

Jhaman did this for JMTC's birthday, very funny commercial for 20kleveling.

I'd like to thank YOU, the community, for making this site such a worthwhile and enjoyable place to visit. The recent explosion of readership over the course of the past 6 months and heavy linking from major websites have helped to cement JMTC, the collective entity you all represent that is, as the #1 gold guide out there.

It's not about Markco and his ideas, it's about this community and YOUR ideas. Thank you for your collective efforts in building and maintaining the superb information on this site and the forum, as well as your well mannered nature while conducting discussions here. I have only sent a handful of comments in the past six months to spam, most of them being bots, gold sellers and hack supporters. That speaks VOLUMES to the way you all behave on this site. It's not elitist jerks, it's not hate mongering with nonsensical philosophies, it's good old JMTC with information anyone can use to go from a gold making noob in cataclysm to a pro auctioneer who practices markco-vian economics.

If you think I'm done praising you guys and girls, well too bad, because I'm not. I don't care if you blush or feel embarrassed, you're getting thanked today.

MMO Leader

Hi Markco,

I wanted to tell you and your readers about a project I've become involved with, it's a site called MMO Leader. The project started months ago when several prolific wow bloggers took a look at the community and saw a problem, everyone seemed to be focused on individual performance rather than the raid as a whole. There are plenty of sites that inform players about their rotations and other theorycrafting topics. But there's little in the community to aid people in managing and leading raids. It's with that thought that the site was created, our goal is to make leadership easier, and to make good leaders better. Since the launch of the site a multitude of discussions have been started on topics such as team building, leadership styles, voice chat solutions and of course asset management.

The Team
■ Blacksen of Blacksen’s End
■ Brangwen of Non Elitist Raiding Diary
■ Gravity of Pwnwear and Hammer’s Eve
■ Karatheya of Cold Comfort
■ Kasgrin of Pwnwear
■ Khaas of SRS Business and Pwnwear

I Challenge Cataclysm Gold Blogs

Markco's Corner

Before I get into the challenge I'd like to propose for my fellow wow gold bloggers, I'd like to remind all of the new readers here that there is a powerful tutorials section on the site which you should all make use of. You should also try out the brand new search feature on the site, which will allow you to search what's currently on the blog, outgoing links and even the content on the blogs within my blog roll!

For those who don't know, friday posts are "Markco's Corner" and they tend to be articles geared towards the blogosphere, what's going on for this blog or my prot pvp/pve antics.

A Challenge

I've got a challenge for you all, yeah you gold blogs and guide sites, I'm talking about you! It will take you some time to write this post but it will probably be both the most commented and visited post by far on your site once you're finished.

Follow this outline and write your post answering each question:

(Feel free to link to your article in the comments section here or you can ask me to tweet about it.)
  1. What was your first post ever? Why did you write it? (don't use an intro post)
  2. What was your favorite post and why?
  3. What was your least favorite post and why?
  4. Find a reader comment you like and respond to it regarding one of your posts. Call them out and thank them for the comment.
  5. Ask your readers to pick a post they found useful on your site.

Ok I asked you to do it, now I'm going to follow the outline:

Listening Instead of Monitoring

Markco's Corner

You may have noticed that there are double the subscribers on this site than there were a month ago. I'd like to take this week's Markco's Corner as an oppurtunity to share with bloggers and readers alike how I managed this incredible feat. Care to guess why JMTC has doubled its readership?
Newfound interest in World of Warcraft?
Currently the game is in the biggest lul it has ever seen and most people are looking for other things to do to pass their time while they wait for cataclysm. No, try again.

Markco spamming sites with his gold guide pitches?
Haven’t done that in over a year haha. I learned my lesson, providing valuable sites and resources is how you sell any online product well. But still, not a reason for subscriptions to double.

Paid advertisements?
I tried using google adwords to send traffic to this site in the early days but the market is so saturated with gold sellers that it just wasn’t worth my time/money. Wrong again, come on you can do better!

Wait a second, the title says “listening instead of monitoring,” does that have something to do with it?
Bingo. Perhaps you didn’t really think about the title of the article in the context of my question because you simply read it quickly and moved on. This proves the point I’m about to make.

Eight Questions for Matticus

1. Thank you Matticus for sitting down with Just My Two Copper for this interview. Please give the readers here a quick intro about your blog, World of Matticus, as well as who you are in the blogging community.

My name is Matticus, the chief behind World of Matticus. I've been blogging about World of Warcraft for a little over 3 years now. The blog mainly started out as a resource for priests but has increased to encompass a variety of topics including other healers, raiding and management. It's not always easy and I've expanded the crew of writers to offer additional perspectives on those same topics.

2. There are TONS of changes to cataclysm in terms of healing, could you pick one change you're really looking forward to and how it will change the game experience?

Oh lord, I don't know where to start. The entire game is practically changing. For me it would have to be healing in general. We're not topping players from 0 to 100% anymore. The focus has shifted to simply keeping players alive instead of making sure they're at full health. Mana actually matters and I've had to watch mine like a hawk to ensure I don't waste any spells.

Gnomeaggedon on Farming Body Parts

Written by: Armaggedon's Coming!

I'm a fire Mage. A Gnome Fire Mage, not a Goblin, nor a Goblin Fire Mage (although there is a chance I might roll one).

A long time ago, when my time was significantly more limited, I spent a fair bit of time in the AH. The reason was simple, the short amount of time in the AH gave me more bang for my buck, supported most effectively the one 5 hour play session I had each week.

What I really wanted to do was "play the game", you know, kill stuff, rescue the damsels, kill the Horde, raid etc...

I've got friends that log on and go farm herbs, or ore, or whatever. This is a part of their "playing the game". 2 hours, 400 gold, and whatever they can fit in (get into) after.

When I log in, I'm ready to fight. Gear consumables, buffs, even my location. All intended to get me grinding within a couple of minutes.

  • Not grinding herbs
  • Not grinding Ore

    I grind body parts!

Analysis of the Remote AH Bugs and Tips

The remote auction house application costs $2.99 per month on top of your wow subscription. If you do decide to purchase this feature here are some pointers to help you use it effectively.

There are no addons on the remote auction house so you won’t be posting hundreds of items, in fact, you can’t make more than 200 transactions per day. So what is this good for? Two things: buying cheap goods throughout the day and posting auctions when the competition thinks you are away.

Buying cheap goods is easy. Simply look for deals throughout the day by running searches for various items you’d like to buy. The best times to check are when most people are not on since farmers will be posting but there won’t be enough buyers available and so prices drop. Around 10 AM and 2 PM have proven to be really good buying times although it doesn’t hurt to also check right during lunch time.

21 out of 25 Cataclysm Guild Perks Crucial to Making Gold

Why Should You Join a Large Guild in Cataclysm?

Short answer: Guild Perks. Long answer...

Fast Track

Experience gained from killing monsters and completing quests increased by 5%.

5% is quite an increase on experience gained, making it all that much easier to level an additional two professions. Since this is the first guild perk there really is no excuse to avoid getting a guild for this alone.

Mount Up

Increases speed while mounted by 5%. Not active in Battlegrounds or Arenas.

The first of several reasons to get into a guild as a gatherer. With the ability to buy 310% speed for your farmers you now can have 315% making it that much easier to fly around azeroth getting the good stuff.

Shadowmourne Will Make You Gold in Cataclysm

This weapon is almost as legendary as I am.

"Hi Markco (checked the spelling several times)

The last week after getting my warrior to 80, and starting on the Shadowmourne quest, I've been thinking. Everyone loves orange stuff, and Shadowmourne is as orange as you can get it. I guess there will be people who would like to get their hands on a legendary axe, even after cata hits. Atm Primordial Saronite is going for 430-500 on my server, and they are still dropping in price. You need 30 Primordial Saronite for the axe. It doesn't drop that much in ICC and the other way to get it would be by trading frost emblems and after cata hits live realms, there wont be anyone farming these emblems anymore. My point is: its gonna be really hard for people to get Primordial Saronite for their legendary axes. Could Primordial Saronite be something to invest some gold into for the distant future? Will the supply be so low that it increases the value even though not that many people want it anymore?

Cheers
Spiff"

Haha I appreciate the spell check Spiff. You bring up a very interesting point. No one is going to want to farm the primordial saronite and if there is ANY kind of demand for people grouping up and wanting to start the chain for this weapon then I could see the price rising to 2k gold+ per saronite. That demand will most likely come from guilds trying to earn guild experience which will be awarded for each new legendary a guild creates. This will make all your primordial saronite in cataclysm worth far more than it is today.

It's an interesting idea for sure, just look at the price of mats for vanilla legendaries like blessed blade of the wind seeker and there isn't even guild experience to act as an incentive yet. I plan on buying out all the primordial saronite on my server the last few weeks of the expansion.

Paid Wow Gold Forum

Let's get it started in here! (FYI: referral links included in post)

Wow Confidential came out with a new gold making forum with a twist, it's paid members only.
Many people in this community have emailed me asking that I take a look at this new forum and write a review of the benefits of paying to access a wow gold forum. As many of you know I run my own forum aimed at making gold in world of warcraft so I have a pretty good idea of what to look for in deciding if this forum is worth visiting. Wow Confidential's site owner, Kraklin, gave me access to his forum upon request and this helped me do a review of how it's going so far.

Wow Confidential Paid Forum

-No spam.
-No trolling.
-Questions given special attention by admins and answered promptly, it's almost like a tutoring service for wow gold help.
-Ideas are kept secret to this close knit community, which means you could figure out the next big money making strategy before anyone else catches on for some time.
-Several major wow gold makers are on the forums as admins and are quite knowledgeable.

How is the forum doing so far after only being around for a week? Not too shabby actually with over a hundred members, a few millionaires, good discussions and interactions between the admins and members... all nice things so far. There's tons of room for more content, but the foundation for something special is definitely in place. I really like the concept of keeping some things secret and having a paid only access system meaning only those willing to spend the money will know the tips. As cataclysm hits and everyone is searching for gold knowledge, wouldn't it be valuable to have a place where no one else knows your secrets? For this reason alone I feel that this forum is really going to shine in cataclysm when people want to know information which no one else knows. FYI: I will continue to offer my forums for free, relying on ads, donations, and perks to cover hosting costs.

What the wow confidential forum really needs now is you. The intelligent, thinking auctioneers who want to keep some secrets private, but don't worry, I'll give you a run for your money providing the community here everything I can for free. Personally I really like wow confidential's blog site as it has always provided good information in an easy to digest manner and I wish him the best of luck with his new forum. It needs members though and much more content so if you want to get on board this promising forum before it really goes crazy with cataclysm information I suggest doing so right now because Wow Confidential has stated that the price of the forum will rise for those that wait until cataclysm to become a part of it.. Be a part of something new and fun that is only going to get better.

What do you think? Could a paid forum be worth it if information appeared on there before anywhere else? Do you prefer the open and free information found within my own gold making forums instead? Will the Wow Confidential forum flop or prosper come cataclysm?

Spread the Wow Gold Tips

Ways to tell everyone about Just My Two Copper or any website in the JMTC community (including http://www.castaclysm.com/):

1. Make your forum signature (for any wow topic forum) include jmtc, justmytwocopper, or something else that will help lead players to the site or one of its sister sites (youtube, twitter, forum, etc). Participate in the wow professions and guide sections of the blizzard wow forums and link to helpful information on this site or the JMTC forums.

2. Leave links to relevant information that exists in JMTC on other blogs or websites.

3. Spread the word to your guild.

4. Email wow.com and other popular sites with your favorite JMTC posts which you feel they should cover.

5. Create youtube videos showcasing tips you've learned on JMTC and link back to where you found them.

6. Tweet @Foldberg1 and #JMTC. Especially on Follow Friday.

7. Like Markco Polo on Facebook and then participate.

8. If you have a blog or site, discuss topics I've brought up and measure your own opinion against them (good, bad or additions). In the article, Playing for Second Place, it was suggested that if I write about something than no one else can... by all means, please write whatever you want and then compare your thoughts to my own!

9. Email me (freebeertomorrowonyxia AT gmail DOT com) with what you want to see on any part of the site (that includes youtube videos!).

10. One final tip for blog owners: Collaborate with me. Participate in the Blogging Carnival on August 2nd, do a post swap, ask me to do an interview, do a guest post for my blog, etc. No blog is an island and I feel that the past few months JMTC has become an island with so many blogs quitting and I also blame myself for not reaching out enough to my fellow bloggers.

The more people you bring into the community the better it becomes and I would not be surprised if within a month of this post being implemented by a majority of the readers here that the community would double in size. Bigger community means more ideas being bounced around and more gold information. I am surprised every day when I learn more about making gold in wow, especially with how much a gold guru like myself already knows. Help JMTC expand!

Traveler's Tundra Mammoth

In the following email I noticed that the included screenshot featured a Traveler's Tundra Mammoth. I am one of those people who bought such a beast and I must say it was worth every penny! If you are a farmer who actually enjoys sitting there for an hour or two killing mobs then having the option to sell items to a vendor 24/7 is pretty sweet. Also, I can buy all the high level reagents for my alt crafters right from one source and simply mail the items to them instead of having to run to nearby vendors. I kind of wish that the traveler's tundra mammoth had ALL vendor sell-able items but hopefully blizzard will add this at a future date. Providing reagents to your raid isn't such a bad deal either. You can even tank in neutral towns with this mount by doing drive byes with friends. There were far more uses before you took damage failing on the mount of course.

If you are considering buying this mount then be sure to have exalted with the kirin tor to make the item less expensive!

Did you purchase a mammoth or chopper with your gold stockpiles you've accumulated from reading the works of the JMTC community?

"Just sent you this email to thank you. I went from 230g here and there, having to go farm to pay repair bills and purchase flasks and potions to 50k without doing anything remotely taxing, just a half hour interval a day. Plus I had fun getting there. This is the first expensive thing I have bought in this game and its all down to you, your guides, your website, podcasts and forums. A massive thumbs up from me. I look forward to repeating the process all over again.

Thank you a thousand times over.
-Kazatem, Kul Tiras EU"

Auction House Theme Song

"Dear Markco, It has come to my attention that auctioneers do not yet have an official theme song, as a result I wrote one for you. I have recently started playing the auction house and I would love any suggestions you have. Your blog is a wonderful way to get started into making money in World of Warcraft and I must get around to buying your guide. Without a further ado here is the song (Short and sweet):

You have to sing it like the United States National Anthem for the full effect.

To the Auction House, I hail to you
In all your gold
I pray to you
So allow my sales to sell
And my profits to explode
My dear Auction house, we love you.
                                                                                                                           From, Matt"

Do you have songs you listen to while playing the auction house? Were you able to make this song of Matt's work in your head cause I sure as hell couldn't. Maybe I'm just tone deaf!

Markco's Corner - A Gold Cap in Two Months

I am going to start pushing social media even more on the blog and I want to continue to develop ways for the community to get together so this week I launched the Markco Polo wow gold facebook page. Here I'll be posting gold tips, questions to get you guys engaged and other fun stuff. I am even considering creating facebook applications in the near future. Get involved and friend Markco Polo on facebook!

I wish you all luck selling your wares during July 4th weekend and I am very jealous because I will not get a chance to play this weekend.

Recently I mentioned on twitter and youtube that I have been trying to hit a gold cap in under 3 months. To make it a fair measurement I sold off my items so that I'd be starting off with a clean slate and I have been sending all my gold earned since that point to a single character. Sunday will be week 7 and I should be pretty damn close if my 48 hour auctions I post today sell over the weekend. Hoping to be at around 190-200k and then next week I should hit a single cap. If I don't get to post tonight then I will probably have some issues but I'm pretty sure I'll get about an hour or so of auctioneering in. If I manage to make around 20k next week (child's play) and get my posts finished tonight then I will have earned a gold cap in under two months with much less play time than ever before! The highest week so far was a 40k beauty earned early on in the endeavor and I've been working hard to revise my strategies in order to get the most gold for my time. In fact the "snatch list of a pro" chapter for the gold guide is exactly how I've managed this feat of auctioneering and is pretty much the culmination of everything I've learned about making gold in world of warcraft (for straight crafting between professions that is).

I'm averaging about 10 hours played and 30-35k gold per week. If I had the time and energy to put in 15 hours a week I'm sure I'd be breaking 50k on top of finding more deals to take my profits even higher.

When I hit the single cap in two months by next weekend I should have around 30-50k in materials left over and stuffed in my guild banks. Having that many materials on hand is a bi-product of this strategy. I'd like to try doing this again some time soon and stop stockpiling materials once I'm in the 180k+ range so as to speed up making the 37k more gold necessary to pass the cap.

Expect more posts about this when I get the chance, especially when I finish up. I hope you all have a safe and happy July 4th.

Three Types of Auctioneers that Hit One Million Gold

The Addon Abuser

These people are the most common millionaires in wow. They rely on addons like quick auctions 3, auctioneer's appraiser, and beancounter to really just abuse the competition. They also use snatch list or just standard search methods to find the best deals on the ah or through guilds/trade to reduce the cost of crafting their items. They tend to use all the materials they pick up from 'farming' the ah and everything is hammered into some kind of rational system. This takes a lot of experience and savvy addon use, something most starting players are not ready to jump into.

The Vendor and Resale Scanner

This person is less common in the millionaire scene but they are there mostly because they've put enough time in to eventually hit their 5th cap. Their method of making gold is to rely on auction house trends and auctioneer's vendor/resale scans. These are the people who can start a level 1 toon and make 1000 gold in a handful of hours played.

The Crafty Reseller

Similar to the vendor/resale scanner but different in that this auctioneer tends to buy items on the ah and then mix them up a little bit before putting them back. Unlike the addon abuser, the crafty reseller is not focusing on any one or two professions with their resale antics. You will see them selling saronite bars individually after buying a few stacks out, selling vendor pets for 4x vendor price, or any number of small repeatable ways to make gold. These players often have multiple toons with the same cooldown, like four alchemists for example to make steady income daily for very little effort.

Newer players tend to avoid the Addon Abuser and jump into using strategies on this blog or the JMTC forums which don't involve heavy profit manipulation through the use of automation based addons. Eventually though they gravitate towards what makes the most money the fastest and that is the proper manipulation of addons and buying out of materials in bulk for use by every profession.
