Low Level Lucrative Gold Making

Hi guys, Alerick here again, and today I’m going to be interpreting and elaborating on an email we got from a reader here at JMTC. This individual goes by the name, “Danprentice”, and his email was regarding making easy gold at a low level. He plays a level 25 warrior currently and uses the professions mining, blacksmithing, and fishing primarily to make his gold. In the email, he talked about how he used to make gold farming copper ore in Durotar, a perfectly simple profitable to make gold at his level using mining, seeing as copper, specifically in bar form is needed in bulk by people leveling blacksmithing, jewel crafting, and engineering.

This was an old method of his for making gold, however his new one is much more creative, and I’ve been using this one occasionally myself to pick up some gold. He plays a horde character, and this makes the method even more ideal because he was leveling through the zone in the first place. Scattered all over the Barrens, there are pools of the Deviate Delight fish. These pools are extremely common, easy to find, and they re-spawn more quickly than you can fish them. The old method for catching these fish was to go to a body of water in Wailing Caverns, and fish for a slim chance at an occasional Deviate Fish. The good thing about fishing them from pools, rather than a regular body of water is that you have an 100% drop rate of the fish, as well as a chance at other items contained in chests, as well as herbs. Although the rarity of these fish has decreased, I found their actual value, and supply to remain the same, and they are still very uncommon on the auction house. This reader only really wrote about selling them in their raw form, and seeing as the value of the savory deviate delight recipe has plunged due to higher supply and a zone-wide high drop rate, you can find it extremely cheap on the auction house, especially on the Horde side on your server. The reason being that a lot more horde characters level through the Barrens than Alliance.

One of the best parts of the recipe is that it requires minimal effort to produce, seeing as only an 85 skill in cooking is required. People buy these savory deviate delights for leveling their boa decked out characters, appearing awesome in BGs, or if they just want to look like a ninja or pirate. The Deviate Fish found in these pools can also be used by alchemists to craft Elixirs of Massive Growth, which can be amazingly profitable if you just sell them on the AH. People like to buy these because the elixirs make your characters grow larger and seem bigger, as well as giving you a handy 8 Strength. As an added bonus, while fishing in these pools for easy gold, you contribute to the guild achievement for catching 10,000 fish from pools, a vital perk for a raiding guild. That’s all for today guys, thanks to Danprentice for submitting this valuable gold information, and I’ll see you guys next week!

Example Low Level Gold Strategies

Written by: Flea.

Here is a guide to help you make a bit of gold at lower levels. Now remember, items do not always sell instantly. It may take some time, and some bartering, but everything sells, And if you  getting good at what your doing you'll know what the bottom dollar is you can take so that you break even at the VERY LEAST. But with the release of cataclysm have come new potion, armors, weapons, glyphs, guns,(not to mention the new cooldowns of some transmutations) ect ect. And you don't even need to be level 80 for all of them. You can do all sorts of new recipes that were not in WoTLK. But these are considered "minor" recipes. but they can still make you gold. And for the prices of the things you need to make some of the recipes are cheap.

Examples:

Ok Im an alchemist, so if you like my articles, and continue to read them, Most of my examples will be from alchemy, but can be easily applied to any profession.  Anyway, On my server Iron bars sell for 25-30g a stack. Not to bad right? Now for a lower level, 25-30g seems like its alot and its hard to make. But its not. You can run a few dungeons, sell everything you dont need as quickly as possible, or even get an investor. (Investors are wonderful things. We will go over that shortly) But all you need to do, is get your gold and get a stack of Iron bars. Now if you divide,we will say 27g by 20 iron bars you end up paying 1g 35S 0c per bar. Now is where your money making profession rolls in. In this case, Alchemy. You get a Transmute: Iron to Gold recipe from any alchemy trainer in the game. And on my Server gold is selling for 187g per stack. that 9G 35S now if we round to the nearest Gp we spent 1 Gp on the silver bar, and turned around and made it into 9g per gold bar. Thats 800% PROFIT! that means for every 1 bar of gold you sell you make 8gp from the initial cost of materials for the transmutation. Also remember, You do not want to over flood the market, so watch how much you do it and ALWAYS watch the AH price fluctuation to know when the best time to make and sell is.

So with a cast time of  8 seconds you could make 7.5 bars an hour. that about 75 gold per hour of work. now granted that is not a whole lot for a level 85. but for a level 35? (when you can make and use a Philosopher Stone) and with alchemy lele of 225, thats some pretty good cash. You've more than doubled your original investment of 27 gold. The basis of this example is taking a lesser needed material, and using your profession of choice, to mold it into some of greed. in this case, cruddy old rusty iron, into pure shiny and sleek gold bars.

Investing:

Investments is another way to make gold in the World of Warcraft. Investing your gold WISELY can make you a millionaire. (over time of course)

But I mentioned earlier that lower level level players may need to get a investor to get things on the ball and rolling for them. A investor is usually a guildy, or a friend that may have brought you into the World of Warcraft. But just like real life they can make you out a loan for you to pay back later. Now the Transmute Iron to gold is the easiest way to get ont he ball. because if you had to borrow 25g, turn around, make it into 74 g you still have 49g that is yours (you always want to pay back your investors AS FAST AS POSSIBLE) and you can buy new materials and do it all over again. And dont ever just pay them back what they gave you. always give them a little bit more so they make some sort of profit. So if they loaned you 30 gold, give them 35 or 40 back. that way they feel like the loan was appreciated it, and that you are a trustworthy person. Merch happy my friends.

Using Pyrite Ore to Make Gold

Guest post by Brit of Arrows of “Gold” Tips

Pyrite Ore is the uncommon ore of the Cataclysm expansion.  It can be used in various professions so it’s hard sometimes to figure out which profession would be the most profitable to use to make gold with pyrite ore.

The first thing we are looking at is the elephant in the room, speculation of epic gems.  Is it worth it more to hold onto your pyrite ore in hope that epic gems will come from prospecting the ore or is it better to use pyrite ore immediately for your purpose. Only thing I will say about epic gems is that I personally think that they will come in 4.3 based on what happened in Wrath.  Deciding if you want to save your ore for epic gems is all dependant on how profitable the other stuff that can be made with the ore is on your server.

Prospecting pyrite ore is another way of using the ore. Prospecting the ore grants you 4 uncommon gems, 8-10 volatile earth, and 1-2 rare gems. This can be very profitable if the price of volatile earth on your server is relatively high.  You can also craft the uncommon gems into jewelry and then de it into enchanting mats or transmute said uncommon gems into rare gems which may be profitable for you.

Pyrite ore can also be smelted into bars and sometimes these bars will sell for more than the pyrite ore that it took to make them.  People buy these bars to trade for a few blacksmithing recipes, to make truegold with, and to make a few blacksmithing recipes with. I usually sell the bars in stack size of3 aiming for the people who use it to make truegold.

Pyrium bars can be used for a couple blacksmithing recipes which include pyrium shield spike, ebonsteel belt buckle, and pyrium weapon chain.  On my server, pyrium shield spikes don’t seem to sell at all while pyrium weapon chains will sell every so often and of course belt buckles sell like hotcakes.

Overall pyrite ore can be used in multiple ways but it is up to you to assess your server and figure out which way can make you the most profit.

That’s it for now, thanks for stopping by.

Investing In Elementium Geodes

Sterling over at the Consortium forums has made a very interesting post that I believe if you haven't read it already I suggest you go do so: Go Long on Elementium Geodes.

To sum the post up, Sterling tells you to go out and buy those pesky elementium geodes that are sitting at the auction house for cheap and hold onto them to flip later down the road. Personally, I think this is a rather excellent tip, especially with the recent data-mined ( well it's on the PTR ) change to cut uncommon gems going from 9g to 75s.

Botters could potentially swap over to herbs, leaving the ore market behind, along with this pet. Less supply for the pet means prices could potentially rise in the long run, thus creating an excellent gold making opportunity. Another thought: There are new pet achievements coming out in 4.1/4.2, creating a slight demand for pets, if pet collectors don't already have this guy you could see them buying them for more than they usually go for.

If your server has lopsided population, you could try to sell these cross faction, it'll work especially well if you're on a very min/max server where one side is very little and contains very few/no botters.

My suggestion would be to put these puppies on your snatch list ( or TUJ notification list ) and pick them up when they're rather cheap, then hold onto them for a bit, and sell for profit if possible, if not hold onto them some more and check back later.

The Best Cataclysm Profession Combination

" Hey there.

So, my real life brother and I have been using some things from your blog and have made a killing over these last few weeks since Cataclysm was released and the money continues to stream in every day.

So far we have a 525 of every trade skill and at least one capped in every gathering skill.  We're make tons on Shadowspirit Diamond cuts, Ebonsteel belt buckles, Sigils, and epic LW and BS pieces and combines, just to name a few.

But tonight I stumbled upon the greatest way to make money I think I've ever seen.

Step 1 - I bought up about 1100g worth of elementium ore (200 ore).
Step 2 - Prospected it for gems and got 49 green level gems and 9 blue level gems
Step 3 - Sent all the green level gems to my Alchemist
Step 4 - Cut all the blue level gems and listed them for about 1100G
Step 5 - Transmuted all the green level gems into Shadowspirit Diamonds (didn't proc any even though my Alch is a Transmutation Master, but each transmute already makes 2)
Step 6 - Sent 6 Shadowspirit Diamonds back to my JC
Step 7 - Cut the Shadowspirit Diamonds and listed them for around 3000G

Starting amount = 1100G
Ending amount = 4000G

A tip for this is to make a macro for trade chat saying, "WTB Elementium Ore, 85G/stack.  Buying now or send COD."  I'm not sure what Elementium Ore goes for on your server, but on mine it's hovering right around 100G for per stack.  What this does is it allows people to have a sure buyer for their ore without having to worry about the AH 5% cut or being undercut by other miners.  What it does for you is reduce your bottom line, making your business even more profitable.  Now, instead of getting 4000G out of 1100G, you're getting 4000G out of 850G.  You can also just go and mine it all yourself, though OFC this takes longer.  Your best bet for mining is Twilight Highlands.  Check out the Gatherer Addon and the WoWHead db from Norganna.  It was recently updated with a lot of mining and herb nodes for Cataclysm.

To "diversify the portfolio" with this strategy even more, list green level gems that are going for a lot separately (these are usually going to be the gem that's needed for that day's Daily JC quest), and sell a few uncut Shadowspirit Diamonds (for other JCers who are still leveling up).  Oh and never list more than about 3 - 5 of any meta gem.  Don't flood the market!  Lower supply increases demand. Diversifying Saronite Ore

Most of you have a truckload of two ( ten in my case ) of saronite ore stashed away in a personal guild bank somewhere, right? Now you're probably asking yourself, what do I do with all of this ore?

Cataclysm has been out for two weeks, Lich King materials are starting to get some inflation in due to people not farming the materials so heavily, and I know most of you are just itching to sell your stockpile as soon as possible. I am going to tell you exactly what to do with all of that Saronite ore, how to properly diversify it to produce as much profit from it as possible.

Smelt it
Smelt the ores into bars, by doing so you're turning the ore into a 200% ROI, which is awesome in my opinion. You can sell the ore raw, but personally it's only going for 17-20/stack on my server, while the bars go for 45-55g per stack. Another way to go is to sell the bars to a vendor, I don't recommend this option as you're basically making back what you've spent, only do the price for saronite has crashed, which it should.

Transmute it
Make the ores into bars and then transmute it into titanium bars. While this isn't as big of a profit, use the bars to make items. The enchanting titanium rod is selling great due to the lack of titanium in the market. Make other titanium items if possible and sell them to levelers. If you cannot utilize the bars, sell them as is, they'll generally sell easily.

Prospect it

#1 Best Cataclysm Whiptail Farming Spot

This post is part of Cold's Gold Blogging Carnival

If you haven't heard already, many people have made 20, 30, and in some cases 50k purely from selling Cataclysm herbs and ores. I've personally made 25k in the pas two days with casual farming, and this is herbalism alone.

I farm some specific herbs, especially since Deepholm and Twilight Highlands have been nerfed. I have resorted to farming Whiptail, and Azsahara's Veil. Both currently go for 3-400g per stack, and they're both extremely easy and plentyful to farm.

Below is the best route that I have been using over the past week to make 25k with minimal time spent farming herbs. I can go here, farm for 10 minutes and have 4-5 stacks of herbs without even trying, I've even farmed while watching my favorite TV show, Dexter! It's that easy!
