Here is a guide to help you make a bit of gold at lower levels. Now remember, items do not always sell instantly. It may take some time, and some bartering, but everything sells, And if you getting good at what your doing you'll know what the bottom dollar is you can take so that you break even at the VERY LEAST. But with the release of cataclysm have come new potion, armors, weapons, glyphs, guns,(not to mention the new cooldowns of some transmutations) ect ect. And you don't even need to be level 80 for all of them. You can do all sorts of new recipes that were not in WoTLK. But these are considered "minor" recipes. but they can still make you gold. And for the prices of the things you need to make some of the recipes are cheap.
Examples:
Ok Im an alchemist, so if you like my articles, and continue to read them, Most of my examples will be from alchemy, but can be easily applied to any profession. Anyway, On my server Iron bars sell for 25-30g a stack. Not to bad right? Now for a lower level, 25-30g seems like its alot and its hard to make. But its not. You can run a few dungeons, sell everything you dont need as quickly as possible, or even get an investor. (Investors are wonderful things. We will go over that shortly) But all you need to do, is get your gold and get a stack of Iron bars. Now if you divide,we will say 27g by 20 iron bars you end up paying 1g 35S 0c per bar. Now is where your money making profession rolls in. In this case, Alchemy. You get a Transmute: Iron to Gold recipe from any alchemy trainer in the game. And on my Server gold is selling for 187g per stack. that 9G 35S now if we round to the nearest Gp we spent 1 Gp on the silver bar, and turned around and made it into 9g per gold bar. Thats 800% PROFIT! that means for every 1 bar of gold you sell you make 8gp from the initial cost of materials for the transmutation. Also remember, You do not want to over flood the market, so watch how much you do it and ALWAYS watch the AH price fluctuation to know when the best time to make and sell is.
So with a cast time of 8 seconds you could make 7.5 bars an hour. that about 75 gold per hour of work. now granted that is not a whole lot for a level 85. but for a level 35? (when you can make and use a Philosopher Stone) and with alchemy lele of 225, thats some pretty good cash. You've more than doubled your original investment of 27 gold. The basis of this example is taking a lesser needed material, and using your profession of choice, to mold it into some of greed. in this case, cruddy old rusty iron, into pure shiny and sleek gold bars.
Investing:
Investments is another way to make gold in the World of Warcraft. Investing your gold WISELY can make you a millionaire. (over time of course)
But I mentioned earlier that lower level level players may need to get a investor to get things on the ball and rolling for them. A investor is usually a guildy, or a friend that may have brought you into the World of Warcraft. But just like real life they can make you out a loan for you to pay back later. Now the Transmute Iron to gold is the easiest way to get ont he ball. because if you had to borrow 25g, turn around, make it into 74 g you still have 49g that is yours (you always want to pay back your investors AS FAST AS POSSIBLE) and you can buy new materials and do it all over again. And dont ever just pay them back what they gave you. always give them a little bit more so they make some sort of profit. So if they loaned you 30 gold, give them 35 or 40 back. that way they feel like the loan was appreciated it, and that you are a trustworthy person. Merch happy my friends.

Pyrite Ore is the uncommon ore of the Cataclysm expansion. It can be used in various professions so it’s hard sometimes to figure out which profession would be the most profitable to use to make gold with pyrite ore.
The first thing we are looking at is the elephant in the room, speculation of epic gems. Is it worth it more to hold onto your pyrite ore in hope that epic gems will come from prospecting the ore or is it better to use pyrite ore immediately for your purpose. Only thing I will say about epic gems is that I personally think that they will come in 4.3 based on what happened in Wrath. Deciding if you want to save your ore for epic gems is all dependant on how profitable the other stuff that can be made with the ore is on your server.
Prospecting pyrite ore is another way of using the ore. Prospecting the ore grants you 4 uncommon gems, 8-10 volatile earth, and 1-2 rare gems. This can be very profitable if the price of volatile earth on your server is relatively high. You can also craft the uncommon gems into jewelry and then de it into enchanting mats or transmute said uncommon gems into rare gems which may be profitable for you.
Pyrite ore can also be smelted into bars and sometimes these bars will sell for more than the pyrite ore that it took to make them. People buy these bars to trade for a few blacksmithing recipes, to make truegold with, and to make a few blacksmithing recipes with. I usually sell the bars in stack size of3 aiming for the people who use it to make truegold.
Pyrium bars can be used for a couple blacksmithing recipes which include pyrium shield spike, ebonsteel belt buckle, and pyrium weapon chain. On my server, pyrium shield spikes don’t seem to sell at all while pyrium weapon chains will sell every so often and of course belt buckles sell like hotcakes.
Overall pyrite ore can be used in multiple ways but it is up to you to assess your server and figure out which way can make you the most profit.
That’s it for now, thanks for stopping by.
To sum the post up, Sterling tells you to go out and buy those pesky elementium geodes that are sitting at the auction house for cheap and hold onto them to flip later down the road. Personally, I think this is a rather excellent tip, especially with the recent data-mined ( well it's on the PTR ) change to cut uncommon gems going from 9g to 75s.
Botters could potentially swap over to herbs, leaving the ore market behind, along with this pet. Less supply for the pet means prices could potentially rise in the long run, thus creating an excellent gold making opportunity. Another thought: There are new pet achievements coming out in 4.1/4.2, creating a slight demand for pets, if pet collectors don't already have this guy you could see them buying them for more than they usually go for.
If your server has lopsided population, you could try to sell these cross faction, it'll work especially well if you're on a very min/max server where one side is very little and contains very few/no botters.
My suggestion would be to put these puppies on your snatch list ( or TUJ notification list ) and pick them up when they're rather cheap, then hold onto them for a bit, and sell for profit if possible, if not hold onto them some more and check back later.
" Hey there.
Cataclysm has been out for two weeks, Lich King materials are starting to get some inflation in due to people not farming the materials so heavily, and I know most of you are just itching to sell your stockpile as soon as possible. I am going to tell you exactly what to do with all of that Saronite ore, how to properly diversify it to produce as much profit from it as possible.
Smelt it
Smelt the ores into bars, by doing so you're turning the ore into a 200% ROI, which is awesome in my opinion. You can sell the ore raw, but personally it's only going for 17-20/stack on my server, while the bars go for 45-55g per stack. Another way to go is to sell the bars to a vendor, I don't recommend this option as you're basically making back what you've spent, only do the price for saronite has crashed, which it should.
Transmute it
Make the ores into bars and then transmute it into titanium bars. While this isn't as big of a profit, use the bars to make items. The enchanting titanium rod is selling great due to the lack of titanium in the market. Make other titanium items if possible and sell them to levelers. If you cannot utilize the bars, sell them as is, they'll generally sell easily.
