Patch 4.3 Video Guide

Patch 4.3 isn't out yet. In fact, it isn't even on the PTR yet.

We're gold makers though, and that doesn't stop us from preparing right now.

We relish in the idea of making 100,000 gold in a single patch and if you're anything like me, that's your minimum goal for any new content update. Patch 4.3, the last patch of Cataclysm, will be no different for us. We make our own goals because the game's goals are too boring. We make millions of gold because we want to, not because it means something to anyone else.

Prospecting Gold Guide

Kynalla here, and today I'm bringing you a long time favorite gold tip of mine, prospecting Thorium Ore.

As I stated in the video, the reason this gold tip is successful is because the gems obtained from prospecting the Thorium Ore are used by Jewelcrafters who are leveling up. I've power-leveled many professions in my days of gold-making, and one thing that I've learned is that I'm a very impatient person, and I'm definitely not the only power-leveler who feels this way. By selling these gems, (depending on your server) you will thrive from people power-leveling their professions because of the demand for these mats, and the lack of supply.

Hello everyone! My name is Brad (Also known as Sandboxtiger) and it’s time to start looking towards
the future – more specifically, patch 4.3. Even though 4.2 and the Truegold boom are still fresh in our
memories, now is the time to begin speculation as to how to plan for the release of patch 4.3 (Which is

Alchemist Cooldown Trick for Auctioneers

"I hope I'm not interrupting when you are busy, I love JMTC, it's helped me break from
the broke-all-the-time habit that has plagued me since day one.
While in my quest to reach gold cap I've discovered a simple trick, not sure if
you already know it but I thought I'd toss it out there anyway.

All you need is one, 525 alchemist with transmute master.
While I'm trying to reach gold cap, I noticed how much I hated having to buy
materials for my true-gold cool-down. And even more so I hate just selling the
cooldown for a mere 50-150g on my server. I noticed people in trade ask
for either a true-gold CD or willing to trade the mats for a true-gold.
I took up their offer, I traded a true-gold for the mats. Since my CD was already
used. The next day, I used those same mats to make another truegold. I
proc'ced 5 with my transmute master.

Working Through Wow Professions

When making gold with professions the process is generally simple:

• Acquire materials
• Craft items people need
• Sell for profit

There is however a logical path through professions in order to get to end products.

At each step along this path there is gold to be made. The further down the path you go, the more gold can be made.

Let me illustrate my point with an example, I can take Ore, prospect into gems,
craft gems into jewellery, disenchant rings into enchanting materials, use materials to make scrolls and sell on the AH. This path starts with mining, then jewelcrafting and finally ends with enchanting. I have created an arbitrary diagram to show the sequence of events in this process and how gold can be made at each step.

5 Stages to Becoming a Wow Gold Addict

Regardless of how much experience you have playing World of Warcraft, the moment you start exploring the auction house you will begin the following 5 Stages to Becoming a Wow Gold Addict.

Stage 1. Find items and sell them on the auction house for the lowest competitive price. Makes sense at the time but then we begin to realize that it's foolish.

Stage 2. Cancel and repost items to beat the competition. Everyone can do this, most do it too often.

Stage 3. Investigate addons and unique gold making methods. Most players adopt a rudimentary understanding of addons and use them incorrectly.

Stage 4. Understand the concepts behind market cycles and mass buying of materials for crafting purposes. Most players simply buy high and sell low because they don't understand how the market cycles actually work.

Stage 5. Make consistent earnings that eventually lead to becoming a millionaire. If you're at the point where you simply have to be consistent and stick to your daily routine... you should be writing guest posts and commission articles for this blog.

Where most people falter is on stages 3 and 4. They run into proverbial walls when dealing with addons as well as the harder to understand concepts that truly run the auction house and determine prices. No matter how smart you are, it is going to take you a very long time to work through the experiences (successes and failures) that lead to truly understanding the inner workings of stage 3 and 4. Guild Banks for Beginners

Hey JMTC! Kynalla here, and I'm proud to present to you a gold tip for all of the beginners out there which discusses the necessity for guild banks!

In my years as a dedicated gold-maker, the guild bank is a tool that resembles that of epic flying. In The Burning Crusade, epic flying was considered by some as unnecessary which was mostly due to its price. The guild bank has been voiced by some as unnecessary, but in my experience it is the best investment that I, or any aspiring gold-maker could possibly make. 

The guild bank provides storage for both gold and items that is unmatched by your personal bank. With up to eight tabs up for grabs in total in the guild bank, and 96 item slots at your disposal per tab, the guild bank is a weapon in your gold-making arsenal matched by none. Whether you're storing your items for later use in an upcoming patch, or you need somewhere to store your massive stocks of materials, the guild bank remains the supreme way to store one's items. Isn't it ridiculous that you can't store gold in your personal bank? What kind of a bank is that? This is one reason why guild banks excel when it comes to organization and keeping track of your gold. 

Not only are guild banks brilliant for storage purposes, but they're simple to create. In my video I show each faction's respective guild vendors in the two main cities Stormwind, and Orgrimmar. The next steps consist of finding three people to sign your guild charter, and then buying your tabs at your own pace.

5 Tips for Wow Gold

Tonight I was skimming through the JMTC forums when I came across an interesting post. The post seemed simple, and was, until I really thought about it. The subject line. What items should I buy and sell? The guy had 32g to his name and had just server transferred. So he most likely only has the one character on this server. I read through a few replys and was taken aback when no one really helped the guy. That made me harken back to when I first "REALLY" started making gold. Way back...about a month ago. Ok maybe not so long ago but hey it sure does feel like it now that I'm much better at it. I didn't know where to start. What websites to use. I didn't have any AH add-ons. I was kind of...lost. I knew how to resale items from Wrath and BC but that's pocket change compared to what I make now. So I decided to create a simple 5 step list to making gold in Warcraft.

Like I said earlier. I started about a month ago with about a 1000g and now have about 200k. Even though it was 1000g I could of done it with no gold...without a doubt...no problem. Right now according to my appraiser in trade skill master I make 11k a day PROFIT with about 2-3 hours work. More time than most others spend but I like my grind and I'm out of school for the summer...but 3.5-5.5k an hour? I'll take it...

This would be my priority list:

1. GET TRADE SKILL MASTER - study it, dissect it, watch guides, gently carress it with tender loving care, buy it dinner, than inseminate it with your man love and create your golden army. One example site to go to for help with this addon is 20k Leveling and watch their tutorials on setting up everything you'll be well on your way.

2. Get Auctioneer / Auctionator - these add-ons are extremely useful. USE THEM!!

3. Watch your servers market - watch the items your gonna get involved with for about 4-7 days and scan your AH using any of the add-ons above to create a market value and min buyout for these items. This will help you know how much people are paying for an item and also how to set your prices to profit. Once you start selling trade skill master will save your purchase price and sell prices than save all this information into appraiser to show you your profits.

4. Level alts - this might be more of a long term addition to your gold making efforts but trust me when I say that this is where you'll start making REAL chunks of gold. Right now I have maxed out: Mining/Blacksmith...JC/Alch...Eng/Ench, and I NEVER farm. Time = Money and I can make more on the AH than I can farming. Basically I buy ore, smelt it, craft stormforged gear with BS, send to ench to DE into Heavenly Shards and that profits anywhere from 20g-100g per piece. Combos like this pay off really well. I can also prospect ore on my JC....craft Jasper/Alicite/Hessonite rings and ammys than DE them on my enchanter and sell the mats or sell high end enchants for even more profit. I mean ALOT of profit. If you can afford it get your level 75+ alts on the same server or just level more. Remember leveling pays REALLY well also. 70-85 is easily 15k in gold just from quests and sold quest items if you actually quest.

 
5. Buy low...Sell high - use your addons and look through herbs/ore/ench mats at least once a day and buy anything that's priced low than sell it for more when you know the markets right. If you setup your add-ons right you'll be able to quickly see a percentage of market value and buy. I try and aim for around 40% of market value, but only on items I KNOW will sell. Sometimes this takes experimenting with markets but you'll learn what sells and what doesn't within time. If you do this consistently you will effectively create a threshold for that market that you can reset at least once a day and you'll always be getting that item when it's the cheapest. Than that one day when there's none on the AH guess what? You use your stock to set your own prices and make a KILLING. When you're always buying items cheaper than anyone else it's easier to still profit but also underbid when you need to. If you bought it cheaper than the next guy resaling than you can effectively push him out of the market or cause him to lose gold on the transaction. 

Always remember anything worth having is worth working for. If you want quick cash go solo Firelands trash until they fix it and you'll be left with no way to make gold beyond that. You'll truly be the man with the fish instead of the man who knows how to catch the fish. Sooner or later you gotta eat. Than what? Patience equates to buying a certain product when it's cheap and waiting until its stock rises than selling it off. Yeah you can sell it now for a gold profit per item. Or you can wait a day and make 10g profit per item. This is why you need to know your market because sales like that are well worth the wait. The last and most important tip is to have fun. I love working the AH. I still raid and still pvp, but honestly I LOVE earning gold off of smart, savvy, gold making strategy. Knowing I'm competing for someone elses gold makes me love waking up every morning and checking my mail for gold. It's like Christmas every day. GAME ON!

Proper Planning, AKA: Diversification

I see emails all the time going to Mageshadow from distraught players who want to know how to diversify properly. Since this was sort of my forte back in my wow'ing days, I figured it would be best if I answered them.

More Methods

Diversification means that you sill spend your time on more than one thing in order to make gold. It doesn't necessarily imply that you use more than one profession, however, and a lot of players assume that's exactly what it has to mean.

More Terms

Another part of Diversification that is crucial to your success is having access to three other classifications of gold making methods: long, middle and short term. Having ten different ways that you can make gold in the next day is great and all, but it won't earn anywhere near as much gold as if you had 3 ways for today, 3 ways for the weekend and 3 ways for the month. So you can't just diversify within the short term, you need to also work all the other market cycles of wow to the fullest.

More Buying

Ok one last point about Diversification. Diversification means that you buy stuff, lots of stuff actually. It's not just about selling goods, which is what most people think of when they hear diversification in wow. Oh, so you want me to sell lots of things from all my professions available to me? Yes, of course, but you also need to buy all the materials necessary to open up those options for yourself. That means that you will need a plan for buying in the short, mid and long term.


Sounds complicated right? Well it isn't. More often than not, the number of different materials needed to diversify are not great, you simply need to buy lots of one critical item such as ore, cloth or herbs. Then you can allow the various professions you possess to do the rest of the diversification work.

More Tools

There are many tools out there to help you buy the critical materials as well as random items which sell great today, on the weekends or different times throughout the year. Think small eggs and wool cloth for Christmas. You can create a snatch list with auctioneer, and you can automate the selling of everything you possess in your "gold making portfolio" with TSM.

Children's Week & 4.1 Achievements

Morning Folks! I was originally going to write a post on children's week but I've decided not to do so. There are multiple other blogs which have already cover the topic and I don't really want to over saturate the event/gold making opportunity. Instead of making a post head over the The Gold Queen's blog and read her post on how you could be making gold from Children's Week. It's a well written in-depth post that shouldn't go un-noticed.

Any who, as most of you know patch 4.1 has dropped and it's been out for a couple days now. The patch brought a couple achievements that can and are currently making me a killing. I'm going to list the new achievements and explain what you could be doing to make gold off them.

Cataclysmically Delicious
 This achievement requires people to eat one of every cataclysm food. People are actually starting to take notice of this achievement and are buying the foods off the AH. Some of them can be crafted for a couple silver and listed for 10-25g per. The profits here are immense and the competition can range from low-high as not everyone will have every single cooking recipe. Definitely give this a try.

Drown Your Sorrows
Another awesome achievement that you can make gold off. It requires you to eat some pretty silly/weird stuff that can be crafted for a couple silver yet they sell at the AH four several gold pieces. Some of the items are also drops off mobs and other are vendor bought so if you don't have the recipes at least go out and buy some of the vendor bought stuff and or kill some mobs and list the materials at the AH.

You'll Feel Right As Rain
This achievement is rather interesting and simply awesome for making gold. It requires you to eat 91 Chocolate cookies in order to obtain the achievement. The recipe is obtained by turning in three Stormwind chef's awards. Profit off this achievements are simply HUGE as the materials are vendor bought and they cost almost nothing. I would get into this market asap before it gets flooded.

100 & 125 Pet Achievements
Another recently added achievement. Quite obvious to be quite frank. People will be buying pets like no tomorrow. Remember how I told you to stockpile elementium geodes? Well the price on my server jumped from 200-300g to 800-900g. Pets are in high demand right now. Be sure to check the prices of the newly added pet; Winterspring Cub. It is obtained in winterspring and is sold by a vendor for 50g.

Sandstone Drake Achievement
A long awaited achievement that was again added in patch 4.1. You could see a small spike in the demand for this mount as people will buy it solely for the achievement ( the achivies hunters ). Use your bartering perk and possibly goblin racial to reduce costs and craft for normal/high and sell the mount for tremendous profits.

Investing In Elementium Geodes

Sterling over at the Consortium forums has made a very interesting post that I believe if you haven't read it already I suggest you go do so: Go Long on Elementium Geodes.

To sum the post up, Sterling tells you to go out and buy those pesky elementium geodes that are sitting at the auction house for cheap and hold onto them to flip later down the road. Personally, I think this is a rather excellent tip, especially with the recent data-mined ( well it's on the PTR ) change to cut uncommon gems going from 9g to 75s.

Botters could potentially swap over to herbs, leaving the ore market behind, along with this pet. Less supply for the pet means prices could potentially rise in the long run, thus creating an excellent gold making opportunity. Another thought: There are new pet achievements coming out in 4.1/4.2, creating a slight demand for pets, if pet collectors don't already have this guy you could see them buying them for more than they usually go for.

If your server has lopsided population, you could try to sell these cross faction, it'll work especially well if you're on a very min/max server where one side is very little and contains very few/no botters.

My suggestion would be to put these puppies on your snatch list ( or TUJ notification list ) and pick them up when they're rather cheap, then hold onto them for a bit, and sell for profit if possible, if not hold onto them some more and check back later.

Primal Might & You

This is one of my secret tips that I haven't shared with anyone. It's transmuting and selling Primal Might, this is one of my favorite ways to make gold, I can turn 150-200g into an easy 400g whenever I want.

You'll need Burning Crusade materials to transmute this, namely primals. I can get all five primals for under 200g, and sometimes even less when I combine motes together to create one primal. Always check for the mote of said primal, who knows you might save yourself some gold.

If you're an engineer, try farming your own primal air in Nagrand with your Zapthrottle Mote Extractor. You can reduce costs by farming your own primal air greatly. It's simple & easy.

Primal Might is used in two main things:

• Used to craft [Runed Adamantite Rod]
• 4 Used in Alchemy Transmutation Quest 

Both keep the demand for Primal Might there, and it always will be. Enchanters will always need the rod when leveling up, while alchemists need 4 ( CHA-CHING! ) Primal Mights to turn for the Transmutation Quest. I think the best part of this is that this transmutation doesn't have a cooldown! It's great, I can craft as many as I want, whenever I want. Generally I keep 4 up at the Auction House, this is because alchemists normally buy them in pairs of four.

Furthermore, if you don't have the recipe go pick it up at Shattrah from Skreah, and be sure to snag a couple extra to list at the auction house to flip, extra gold never hurts!

So check the market out, especially if cataclysm alchemy isn't doing so well on your server.

Making Gold With Low Capital

I often get asked how to make gold if you don't have much capital. In fact I've answered this question multiple times over the past week so it's inspired me to make this post about it. There are a ton of resources that you use/read that will make you thousands of gold per day even with low capital.

For starters there are multiple guides over at the Consortium Forums - they have a special section to top notch guides that are just simply excellent. One that really stands of for me is Sinshroud's Guide to Outlands Limited Supply. It's a great guide for those who don't have a lot of capital yet wish to make gold like they're pros. What the guide basically is, it points you and gives you a route to follow that maximizes your gold per hour buying vendor bought items. There is even a little summary at the bottom that states that you make roughly 5,000g per hour ( or the equivalent to ) by using this route/method. There are even videos that show the exact route that Sinshroud takes in order to maximize his gold per minute/hour.

#1 Best Cataclysm Embersilk Farming Spot

A couple months back I did a post of where to farm embersilk, well.. that's now really outdated as Blizzard nerfed the spot that was posted so I thought that I'd update that guide and give you guys the best and new Cataclysm Embersilk farming spots.

The Embersilk farming spot is Tol Borad. I'm sure most of you guys have been here and have seen the cloth drops while doing the dailies here. The mobs are named Restless Soldiers and Restless Infantry, they have 17k hp and are very easy to kill. Above is a map with the location of them. The only real downside is that these mobs are part or are near a quest, and therefore other players might kill them as well. Both the Restless Soldiers & Restless Infantry have a drop rate of 50-52%, and they can drop up to four cloth per mob. It's simply ideal for farming, they're low hp mobs that fight each other, dot classes such as warlocks, shadow priests and even a fire mage ( living bomb ) would excel here if they used the "tag" and move on strategy. It would be even better if you used the best grinding trinket currently in the game.

There is even a wowhead comment that states he looted over 200 cloth in under 35 minutes by grinding these mobs, that would equate to roughly  17-18 stacks in an hour; and even more if you were under the effect of the Potion of Treasure Finding.

Farming cloth is a great alternative if you don't have a gatherer and you don't have a lot of gold on you. It's an easy way to make a couple grand in an hour or two.

Do you have too much ore?

A frequent question that is being asked around everywhere is what do I do with all of this ore? Everyone and their friend is now doing the Obsidium/Elementium Shuffle - and botters just keep posting and posting the ore for cheaper and cheaper, to the point where it's so cheap you'd be stupid NOT to buy it.

There are two main things that you simply have to know when you're buying ore from the Auction House. The first if that you need to know the floor price ( the amount of gold a stack of ore will yield you when you use X strategy ). The floor price for Obsidium is 54g, the Floor price for elementium is 44g. Knowing that, you can safely buy any amount of ore under those prices and you simply know that you're going to be making profit.

The second thing that you need to know is what you're going to do with the Ore and finding out if the method you chose is profitable.. Are you going to prospect it? Smelt it into bars? Craft JC jewelry and disenchant it? Transmute the prospected gems? Transmute meta gems? I've made a nice little picture for you guys to help you out if you have too much ore and don't know what to with it.

Woops! Forgot the Yes -> Buy ( just assume it's there! )

If you bought the ore below it's floor price cutting and vendoring the common gems will always give you your initial investment. Vendoring gems is like your safety net, which is something that is always great to have in case a certain market tanks.

Maelstrom Crystals & Patch 4.1/4.2

Mmo-champion recently released/data mined the new epics that are going to be dropping from ZG & ZA, and according to their loot tables, these items will not be disenchantable. * UPDATE* According to a comment left below, the epics ARE indeed disenchantable in the PTR!!! Disregard this post!! What does this mean for the Maelstrom Crystal market?

It should remain the same, at least up until 4.2. Why 4.2? Well, 4.2 brings a new raid out, meaning that the current content becomes easy/outdated or what many guilds call "farm" mode. The current content will be more of a  " Hey can I get my alt in there for some easy gear? " - It's going to be almost like doing Naxxramas in Ulduar gear, which is makes it much easier.

If you're doing old content using new, better & higher tier gear, 80% of it is going to be disenchanted and either put into the Guild bank for the guild to use for their enchants or listed at the Auction house and sold for gold for the Guild. Either way, I expect Maelstrom Crystals to drop in price due to this. Most people will not need the gear out of here, especially if they'll have gear from the Firelands Raids that is going to be released with patch 4.2

If you're looking for ways to obtain Maelstrom Crystals, I did an article not long ago on how to obtain them, you can really craft these using very cost effective methods once you get started. It's an excellent way to make gold, especially if you meet all the requirements to use the engineering method

Why You Should Be Using Old Strategies

Crazy title for a post huh? There are many reasons why you should be using old strategies, why? Because they simply still work. If they worked once, surely they will work again. I'm talking about strategies like the Saronite Shuffle or Crafting and selling Wrath Of The Lich King Flasks for profit. They're still viable markets/strategies that you can use to make gold, and better yet; these markets have little to no competition!

Thinking "outside" the box can make you thousands of gold. Right now everyone is busy making gold with the Cataclysm materials and such while not many people realize that they could be making the same amount of gold if not more if you go back to the old methods that made you gold 4-5 months ago.

A great example that comes up to my mind are the JMTC Blogging Carnivals. Some of the topics for these carnivals are awesome, and can be used at any time regardless of what expansion it is. For example, the blogging carnival on " What's your favorite niche market " has some great articles that are still very relevant even though that post was made last year September 2nd. While at first glance some of the information might look outdated; it really isn't. The thought/strategy is still there, you can either do two things; apply the strategy as is, or you could apply the strategy and try to relate it to Cataclysm materials. Either way will work and I've personally done both.

So if you have the time, go to the carnival listing page and check out the past carnivals, some of the topics are that you call " Green Pasture " topics and their strategies can be used whenever and will most likely yield you tons of profit.

So lesson of the day guys; If the Cataclysm markets are tanking, try to go back to those Wrath of the Lich King gold making methods and see if they're still viable. A great market to start on is shattering abyss crystals, that market feels like you're printing gold ( legally of course )
