21 out of 25 Cataclysm Guild Perks Crucial to Making Gold

Why Should You Join a Large Guild in Cataclysm?

Short answer: Guild Perks. Long answer...

Fast Track

Experience gained from killing monsters and completing quests increased by 5%.

5% is quite an increase on experience gained, making it all that much easier to level an additional two professions. Since this is the first guild perk there really is no excuse to avoid getting a guild for this alone.

Mount Up

Increases speed while mounted by 5%. Not active in Battlegrounds or Arenas.

The first of several reasons to get into a guild as a gatherer. With the ability to buy 310% speed for your farmers you now can have 315% making it that much easier to fly around azeroth getting the good stuff.

Mr. Popularity

Reputation gained from killing monsters and completing quests increased by 5%.

Perfect for reputation grinding and picking up old recipes for enchanting or other professions.

Cash Flow

Each time you loot money from an enemy, an extra 5% money is generated and deposited directly into your guild bank.

Need I explain this one? Free gold for the guild means they can pay your repair bills which means more gold for everyone.

Fast Track (Rank 2)

Experience gained from killing monsters and completing quests increased by 10%.

Improvement on rank 1.

Reinforce

Items take 5% less durability loss when you die.

The amount of money you spend when you die only gets worse the longer you go into an expansion. Luckily any guild you join early on will pick up this rank way before the first set of content is finished in cataclysm.

Hasty Hearth

Reduces the cooldown on your Hearthstone by 15 minutes.

Hearthstones are already seeing a decrease in cooldown so now even non mages and shamans will be able to quickly move around cities. This will make it possible to also hearth back to your home city after running around doing a few dailies even if you initilaly hearthed to get started.

Reinforce (Rank 2)

Items take 10% less durability loss when you die.

Improvement on Rank 1.

Chug-A-Lug

The duration of buffs from all guild cauldrons and feasts is increased by 50%.

Doesn't really relate to gold making unless you use the buffs to go farm post raid.

Mobile Banking

Summons your guild bank. Instant, 1 hr cooldown

Awesome way to store your materials which you gather without having to run back to town. Also allows you to grab mats for crafting without having to constantly run back to the bank. Could theoretically use it to post auctions faster as well.

Mr. Popularity (Rank 2)

Reputation gained from killing monsters and completing quests increased by 10%.

Improvement on Rank 1.

Honorable Mention

Increases Honor points gained by 5%.

Great for farming up gems.

Working Overtime

Increases the chance to gain a skill increase on tradeskills by 10%.

Absolutley fabulous way to save money leveling up a new profession.

The Quick and the Dead

Increases health and mana gained when resurrected by a guild member by 50% and increases movement speed while dead by 100%. Does not function in combat or while in a Battleground or Arena.

No real monetary gain from this.

Cash Flow (Rank 2)

Each time you loot money from an enemy, an extra 10% money is generated and deposited directly into your guild bank.

Improvement on Rank 1.

Guild Mail

In-game mail sent between guild members now arrives instantly.

Absolutley awesome if you are transferring items between characters not on the same account. Instead of having to trade to yourself (if you have several accounts) you can simply mail it within guild.

Everyone's A Hero

Increases Heroism points gained by 5%.

Not sure what Heroism points will be. Probably for buying raiding items.

Honorable Mention (Rank 2)

Increases Honor points gained by 10%.

Improvement on Rank 1.

Happy Hour

Increases the number of flasks gained from using a flask cauldron by 100%.

No real monetary gain from this.

Have Group, Will Travel

Summons all raid or party members to the caster's current location. Unlimited range, 6 sec cast / Channeled, 2 hr cooldown

No real monetary gain from this. Unless of course you use it to summon people to trade with.

Chug-A-Lug (Rank 2)

The duration of buffs from all guild cauldrons and feasts is increased by 100%.

Improvement on Rank 1.

Bountiful Bags

Increases the quantity of materials gained from Mining, Skinning, Herbalism, and Disenchanting by 15%.

The #1 reason to get into a high ranking guild as an auctioneer. Simply phenomenal.

Bartering

Reduces the price of items from all vendors by 5%.

Great way to reduce the cost of items you use to craft with. Imagine reducing the cost of a mechano hog's vendor items by 5%. That makes quite a difference!

Everyone's A Hero (Rank 2)

Increases Heroism points gained by 10%.

Improvement on Rank 1.

Mass Resurrection

Brings all dead party and raid members back to life with 35 health and 35 mana. Cannot be cast when in combat. 64% of base mana, Unlimited range, 10 sec cast

No real monetary gain from this.

  1. Wow. I'm sure a lot of people think this is awesome but for someone that prefers solo leveling and sets their status to away for some privacy, this sucks. 90% of the people I encounter are retards and now to remain competitive I will have to socialize with them? Wow, I'm starting to think that Gevlon really is on to something with his disdain of the socials lol.

  2. Well I disagree with your opinion here. Most of these perks are used to be questing or farming faster. As I see the benefit for farming, I don't quite get, why 21 of these perks are good for auctioneers. The only perk I saw that is really helpful is the 5% reduction of vendor prices. But all the others?

Making Gold is as you said in numerous of your former posts, not a good spot for continous farming but a good knowledge of the economy.

I would either work my way to 85 OR level your professions OR make gold. Doing all together might be too much. So if you get to 85, you have access to all the new stuff, that might be selling better than the low-lvl things. Epic Items can be much more worth in the beginning, since they are still extremely rare. Getting your profession up might be a good choice, if the new high-end tradeskills are providing good items to sell (i think they will). Just farming items that are rare at first (cloth, ore, leather,...) might be the best and easiest way to get the big money at first (remember cobaltbars at the start of wotlk).

If you try all at together, you will just end up with average success, like most people do. Try focusing on one or maybe two things, if you have the time. This will make things easier to control and develop.

Getting on top of economy is better than settle with the average ;)

  3. I'm so pumped about all the guild improvements. I can already foresee entire guilds of goblins raking it in!

  4. Sorry English is not my main language

but I was thinking maybe you could make gold from levelers by selling invites to guilds with levling perks unlocked

  5. Heroism points are Cataclysm's version of badges/emblems, but will work along the lines of honor/arena points.

  6. Heroism points are the lower tier (the same as triumph now) raiding points which you receive from completing raid encounters. The monetary gain will be from buying the orbs (such as crusader orbs, etc).

  7. I agree with Xinge; what a pain to force my alts to have to join a guild.

  8. Anon, you cant do that because of guild reputation. You cant just join a guild and get all the perks straight away, that's not how it works.

  9. Well, I wouldn't say any of these are really crucial, except for the 15% extra mats one (which is absolutely insane for farmers).
For me the problem with this is, that all my crafters have their own guilds with guild banks, so I don't have to send mats around between chars all the time.
To be honest I think Blizzard have thought this one through and they will make most (if not all) of these perks unobtainable for one-man guilds.

Not often I disagree with your posts, but this one seems a bit half-assed really.

  10. I hate this guild perks-thing with a passion.

I know very well that WoW is a multiplayer game, but I don't think they should screw solo players over completely.

If I could be in a guild on my own and still get all those benefits after _some_ time, it would be fine - but I doubt that would happen.

I think guild perks should only be helpful when you are raiding. Like the mass ressurecting perks or cauldron perks. No perks should let you have an advantage over other traders/money makers/farmers/etc.

Goblins in high end guilds can push their prizes down even more if they need to.

  11. @ Everyone who doesn't want to be in a guild at all - you can EVENTUALLY level a guild all by yourself. It'll probably take more than 20 times as long as it takes an actual guild to level, but you can do it.

Or you could, you know, just join a guild. They're not that bad. Really. Even Gevlon is in a guild, which should tell you something - there are people out there like you no matter who you are. Don't want to socialize? Join or form a guild that exists only so members can get perks, and you can turn off guild chat. Hell, buy your way into the zerg guild on your server, if the perks are that important to you.

If Bountiful Bags didn't include disenchanting, I wouldn't consider any of the perks crucial. I'll only be farming early on in Cata, and by the time my guild has that perk I'm sure I'll be done with farming and will leave it to the professionals.

Some of the others are nice but none are necessary, though I'll certainly enjoy them (esp the guild mail one - that'll make using two accounts even easier).

  12. I fail to see how this is "screwing" the solo players. These are perks, things you get above and beyond the normal play as a reward for playing with a guild. If you do not want to join a guild, you do not gain the perks (incidental benefits). If they we're not implemented in the game you wouldn't be missing them. If you are truly playing solo then the things other people gain shouldn't affect you.

From FreeDictionary.com "Perk- an incidental benefit awarded for certain types of employment (especially if it is regarded as a right); "a limousine is one of the fringe benefits of the job""

  13. #John: They do when my competiton on AH can take advantage of them. Screwing wasn't the right word maybe, but I would replace it with a 'lighter' one.

#Uriul: Yes, I could make such guild. A guild only to get access to the guild perks.
But that could also harm me as people that don't know the aim of my guild could have bad experience with some of my fellow guildies if they behave bad, and my whole guild would be given a bad name.
And yes, if someone turned to me telling me what one of my guildies have done, I could kick him. But I would have to spend time dealing with all this. Do they have evidence? Maybe discuss with other guildies why he was kicked, etc etc. Too much work I'm not interested in.
