Bring On The Next WOW Killer

If you missed the news,  the new MMO project called 'TITAN' received the heave ho and was scrapped recently.  Sighting flaws in the design and overall bad juju all over the next generation MMO from Blizzard, the masses looking for the next wow killer were informed that they would get to see it when "Hades received a sudden Ice Storm"  (paraphrased of course).

Titan has been a mystery to just about everyone,   and with each Blizzcon that happens, players get more and more grouchy when they hear absolutely nothing about the new project.  Diablo 3 players are already hungering for a new expansion to conquer,  and World of Warcraft players are starting to drop because they are ready for new challenges.   Having the Titan project be delayed to 2016 will make things more difficult on the Blizzard lineup.  

Players like new ideas and challenges.  If there is one knock against World of Warcraft is that they have always been slow to incorporate new technologies and new innovations.  Where story telling has become much more vibrant with phased areas and different lines of interest.  The basic gameplay stayed the same for years.   Causing many people to try the new flavor of the day in MMO's as they come down the gaming pipeline.

I have said many times that the true WOW Killer will come from Blizzard themselves.  Most players are not able to sustain a subscription to more than 2 to 3 games.  And with many players becoming older,  they lower that time allotment to just one game.  They might try the new Star Wars MMO (it was new last year) or others,  but after the shiny exterior wears out they come back to the game they have conquered.

With already the discussions of 5.4 in the wind for World of Warcraft,  and rumblings of the new Warcraft Expansion on the horizon,   this gives an interesting time table to when Blizzard will truly release their next generation MMO.  If they ever release it at all.
