Every so often I will go and take a friend out to eat. Sometimes we will pay for each other, other times it's pay for your own. Occasionally I will even put a crowbar into the wallet and pay for it all. This is separate from going out on a date since I tend to pay for the food on a date. Yes, I've a caveman when it comes to dating....
So how does this apply to Warcraft gold? I love sales. I love logging on and seeing 10 to 20 sales on each of my toons. I let it auto collect all of my gold and then move on. But occasionally I will take a look and see just who purchased what items. If it's one or two items then it's just filed in my mind under miscellaneous information. But every so often I will see that one person bought 10 to 20 of an item. My mental gears start rolling and I question why this is. Am I missing an opportunity for more gold from this person? Or am I missing a new system that might be applied to my own strategy.
There are times I will contact the person to talk to them. If I think it's because they may buy more then we can negotiate. If they seem to have a good idea I look to see if it is something that I might be able to use. There are very few systems that will limit how many people can be working with before it becomes over saturated and nonviable for gold making.
So just a little bit of knowledge and leg work can bring in a better sale from a player. Also it can provide a new avenue of sales or investment that will pay off in future endeavors. All for the price of a meal.

If you were like me during cataclysm you heavily invested in Pyrite Ore. With the tantalizing hints that Epic gems might be prospected from the ore, players went heavily into the red after liquidating their assets.
Kyparite ore is already shaping up to be very similar in investment potential. It's used in purchasing patterns from the Klaxxi quartermaster. It's also used to craft some of the 463 weapons such as the Masterwork Phantasmal Hammer. Engineers can even use this ore to craft a engineering mount (Depleted-Kyparium Rocket). Jewelcrafters even have the option of prospecting these for gems. With a higher percentage of Mid range gems being prospected overall.
So the question for investing is what will become of this ore? The odds are very slim that it will be used for Epic Gems. The Cataclysm expansion version of delivering epic gems encouraged players to run higher level raids instead of just sitting in their home towns and prospecting for profit. Many of the Professions are built to get players out to invest time in leveling. Currently the only two major professions that can be leveled to their maximum without stepping out into Pandaria is Alchemy and Inscription. (technically engineering can be leveled to 600 without any need to enter Pandaria but the materials necessary are so heinous that it isn't a useful part of the conversation for now).
With Ghost Iron ore hovering around the 2.5-3.0g mark on many servers, it starts to look at being an option of investing some gold in Kyparite ore for now. Keeping an eye on deals that might arrive, or taking a larger effort to farm your own could become profitable in the long run.
We do not know what other tricks and treats will be brought on with future expansions, but planning ahead with picking up deals on Kyparite ore can add to your coffers and your profits.

When I started writing on this little island found in the great sea of the internet, I wanted to enable players to think outside the box. My intentions were to make sure that Gold Goblins expanded their mind to the ability to not just have to be 'go here and farm this' type of gold makers.
But occasionally I see something that was obvious to me, that a player is doing that makes my head spin just a little bit to say 'huh?' As I was trucking along finishing up my Loremaster achievement for my shiny Nimbus disc I was chatting with a guild mate of mine. They had asked me to craft some items for them to raise their ilvl.
As we were chatting I told them that I would need to farm a few Spirits of Harmony for the requirements. They said that was fine, but they threw those things away because they were not a crafter on that toon.
Somewhere a couple of kittens just clutched their little chest and flopped on the ground at the sound of those words. They tossed those poor little Motes of Harmony away like they were worthless. I wanted to find the ethereal trashcan these poor abandoned motes were at to try to save them.
But seriously, I explained to them that the best idea was to save these for later use. There are two vendors (Danke at Shrine of the Two Moons and Krystel at Shrine of Seven Stars) sitting on their little perches ready to grab those hard earned Spirits of Harmony. They have various BOE items included some crafting items that can be given to alternate crafters or save some gold for personal enhancement needs.
But the best bet to me is to stick those little gold mines into the bank and save them. Sometime in a future patch the Spirits of Harmony will probably be made Bind on Equip. And those will be happy days of trading newly freed Spirits of Harmony on the open market. It's a long investment of time instead of grabbing the short term benefits of trading for the items from the two vendors.
So as we continued our chat and I sucked back the tears, poured some root beer out to my spirit homies, I hoped that just a little information could save my guild mate from future torture and abandonment of poor defenseless Spirits of Harmony.
Just remember, Save those spirits. Little Kittens will be proud of you.
