Investment prepping for Patch 5.2 has already begun. A couple of weeks ago your favorite Gold Goblin suggested starting to pick up raw materials including Ghost Iron Ore and Trillium Ore (both Black and White) to be able to resell.
Wrathion, that favorite guy who no one knows if he's a good guy or not will be given an epic quest line in patch 5.2. One of the steps is going to require 40 trillium bars to continue on. This not only will have a direct action on the resale value of trillium, but it will have an effect server wide on different items.
Look for anything that has to do with crafting that uses Trillium bars (i.e. Living Steel, armor) to be affected by the initial rush to grab as much trillium as possible. Journals all over the blogosphere are already having their readers jump on this.
As a Gold Goblin, your goal is to buck the system. Picking up the raw materials will be a good investment. But also look for the offshoots of this rush to affect other products. Living Steel Belt Buckles will take a jump as players look to get the newest and greatest items. The New PVP gear will also be affected by the
rush to pick up Ghost Iron Ore and bars.
Also don't neglect your other material pick up as well. Players will be grabbing new pants so Leg Armors such as the Ironscale Leg Armor will be in demand at the beginning. Don't have Leatherworking? How about picking up some Magnificent Hide to get a quick flip. Or call your own Avengers team from your cartel and start a nice manufacturing circuit. Send the materials to your favorite Leatherworker with a nice healthy tip, then post up for sales.
The object as has been shared many times is to think not just the direct sales, but also the alternate sales as one major change or demand will affect. Good money can be made from the direct sales, gold goblin money is obtained from thinking outside the box.
