If you are like me, you drag your smart phone anywhere you go too. Personally I bring a large selection of books along with my texting app, my twitter app and a portable browser. It's a mild addiction that I put up with.
But Blizzard just uncorked something that should get a lot of Warcraft players with Smartphones excited. Originally World of Warcraft official phone app cost 3 dollars a month to use. It gave basic access to guild chat, auction house and the armory. Where some players decided to buy it for the novelty I have my doubts it was as popular as Blizzard expected to be. Where I enjoyed the free version, when it added 3 bucks to my bill I didn't feel it was worth the usage fee.
Low and behold the heavens have opened up and everyone gets to be saved 3 dollars. Blizzard has made their mobile armory app for the iphone and android operating systems free to use. This can be a very useful tool to look up items quickly. Combined with the website auction house access you no longer have to start up warcraft to be able to buy a quick item that's on sale.
Accessing the web client auction house is relatively simple.
1. Log into your World of Warcraft account here
2. Look halfway down the screen on the right hand side and find 'Auction House'
3. Click on the word Auction House and it will take you to the web functions available.
Basic sorting is available as well as looking up specific items. You can also use basic searches for 'ore' or 'ink' if you want to see where those stand at. The auction house you see is linked to your character so Horde will see the Horde AH and the Alliance will see the Alliance AH. You can also view
your auctions on the Neutral AH if you click the tab just under the Horde/Alliance Battle Flag.
I like this app being free. There is a huge advantage when you just want to put up a few auctions without having to log into the game. Or check on a raid availability with your guild without having to log on. Hopefully it being a "free" app won't prevent Blizzard from letting the app get upgraded. Add-ons would be an excellent thing for players to be able to use. But that would require them to allow more access to the Auction House API which they aren't all that open to.
This definitely gets the ball rolling on having more access to deals away from the keyboard. Now I need to go and check to see what my guildmates are up too. SHHHH they won't see it coming
