Guess who???
11 days and counting until the opening of the gates of Pandaria. There is a slow buzz that is building in journals and trades. People are giving their lists of things to save. Items that they are suggesting to get rid of, and how to ride the wave of money making opportunity.
Here at camp JMTC we aren't all that different. We've been slowing unveiling items that we are suggesting to buy, and areas to explore for your next income source. But there is always a chance to sit back and relax for a moment, and look at what is important when it comes to the next expansion.
This expansion is going to see more investors and sellers at the start than ever before. Players are starting to become more educated when it comes to what to sell and who to sell it to. The game of gold goblin management has become that much more dangerous to your savings.
Setting a limit of investment is a wise idea. Whether it's a total limit or a limit based on the week. Discipline will become that much more important in the coming week and a half as players return, guild banks get cleaned out and items get dropped on the AH. Three very important things to remember when you're looking whether to invest or not.
1. Players with money have purchased much of what they need already.
Players who are wise when it comes to the leveling toons have already purchased a large amount of materials that they need to power level their new monks or new classes they choose to play when Mists of Pandaria open. Where odds and ends might be picked up by them, the majority of their investing and purchasing has already been done.
2. New money for new players won't be immediately used to buy luxury items.
Certain items such as Profession bags, Jewelry and Vanity items won't be in demand til the basic needs of new players are met. Remember when you first started playing and was looking for any way to make enough gold for your first mount? The majority of players will be in similar circumstances as they start their World of Warcraft journey. New players won't have the 20k to purchase their Mechano-hog until well after they have power leveled and began their own Auction House sales career.
3. Your items will ultimately sell, it's a game not only of intelligence but of patience.
Many gold goblins after the first week are going to become frustrated because their items didn't sell immediately. Whether it's this journal or others, players will take what they have learned and make their own investments. And they will immediately list items on the Warcraft auction house from the start. Looking for the quick turnover of materials and precious items. The more players that list items, the more chance there is to be undercut. So being patient and knowing the best place to strike is going to be essential to your sales strategy. It might be 6 months down the road before you are able to finish selling all of your collected items. Being patient will still bring you a good return on your investment.
4. We as investors can be wrong.
One of our goals when writing is to seem like this is a guaranteed strategy. The sad part of it is that we can be wrong. The crystal ball of expertise and past reaction by the auction house might not always apply to todays game. So it's a possibility that we could be wrong in our investments. That should not scare you off from investing, but use your own logic as well as what you read in the journals to decide whether it's a good strategy or not.
5. Have fun with all of this.
Whether you win or lose in your investments, this isn't the end of the game. Investment and gold making is just one part of a vast tapestry of enjoyment that will be found in Mists of Pandaria. So be prepared to enjoy the game and everything in it. Don't let one bad investment ruin your fun and steal your $15.00 from you.
Many people will get swept up in the hype of Mists of Pandaria. But taking logical practical looks at your investment strategy will pay dividends in the end.
