Leveling professions - Easysauce

Hello.  My name is Johnny Cash.

Ok,  so it's not Johnny.  But you have to admit he has an awesome name to use for an intro.

Veterans of World of Warcraft will reminisce about the good old days of earlier expansions.   Sometimes you will also hear the war stories of players who were with the original launch of the game years ago.

Even todays players who play the game between expansions will talk about the changes and the 'good ole days' of the expansion gaming when they started.  One of the most significant changes has been professions and how they are leveled.

The profession level and difficulty has become increasingly less and less with each expansion.

Vanilla Wow  - 1-300
Burning Crusade 300-375
Wrath of the Lich King  375-450
Cataclysm   450- 525
Mists of Pandaria  525-600

Each profession has added certain quirks for leveling (Cataclysm was the first one that required to open up a higher level zone to complete profession leveling).   But as the changes occurred,  it seems that the material needs to maximize profession points have decreased.

Take for instance Blacksmithing.   Using Kaliope's guide you need 12.5 bars of Ghost Iron and 1 spirit of Harmony.  Also included in this is the need to open of the Vale of the Eternal Blossoms  at 87 to purchase the PVP recipes.   This is the same mechanic that was used with the Cataclysm expansion to keep players from just sitting in a home zone and maximizing professions.

So what does this mean for Gold Goblins?   The easier that leveling a profession becomes,  the quicker that the profession can become viable for high end sales (PVP armor,  Epic Crafted items etc).   The other side of the goblin coin is that it makes for more competition.   Jewelcrafting when it first started was a rich goblins game.   Players had to invest a large amount of gold from the start to be viable in the market.  Now it has become much easier to be swimming in jewels and money.

So selection of markets based on the server needs becomes very important for your own personal cartel.
Looking at the auction house and seeing what items are listed can give you a good idea of what
professions have already become flooded.    If Jewelcrafters exist everywhere with overstocked items
on the auction house.  Look to maybe level your Blacksmith or Leatherworker.  In 2 to 3 weeks many
players will be looking to start PVPing.  And all of those will need starter PVP gear.   Perhaps you have
a stronger raiding community that needs to have potions and flasks at the ready.

Basing what profession to level is necessary to be maximizing your personal cartel profit lines.  A short
look at what is needed server wide can place more gold in your greedy goblin pockets.

Good Luck and Good Hunting
